To me, the answer of how to get more people on nostr is simple. It’s all about exclusive content. If there are a few good content creators who post exclusively to nostr, that creates intrigue. The problem is most nostr content creators cross post to YouTube and/or twitter so there’s no reason to check nostr to see their stuff.

for big creators and brands there's not enough money, creative tools, statistical analysis and damage control here definitely agree with the exclusive content aspect
Like, I was already subscribed to Netflix, but when one of my favorite shows moved to hbo only, I got that subscription so I could watch 🤷‍♀️😂
This is correct. I believe that’s why @ODELL deleted his twatter account. But I also think that more people will come to nostr when censorship gets worse. Elon isn’t doing a lot of censoring so adoption has been slow. Maybe nostr is keeping other content platforms honest? Normies are sending me pretty extreme TikToks and Facebook posts that I was surprised haven’t been taken down.
The problem with that (unfortunately) is that your average joe is comfortable in his cage and doesn’t care about censorship or privacy. There’s a good bunch who do, but I don’t see that as the average person
For those reasons, the next big wave could be because of a need and not a want. For instance a specific client or feature of the protocol. And we know there are plenty of unique features with more to come.
I agree but the average joe will come if someone like Joe Rogan started posting on nostr. But he won’t post on nostr unless he gets censored and I don’t think they will anytime soon.
The reality is incentives mean that essentially someone has to pay top talent in order to have them take the hit on engagement and post here exclusively. It's like how chess.com became king by paying all the GMs to play there. And since Nostr is just a protocol it means a VC backed app project like Primal would need to do that. But then, since they have no moat in terms of the network it makes little sense to do that. So then maybe Primal would need to look at top talent posting exclusively to Primal's relay or something. And, voila, we've reinvented centralized social media. But without those financial incentives how can we expect content creators to come and post here exclusively? And without moats and ROI how can we expect capital to fund it? Like with Bitcoin, the model needs to work in alignment with human incentives. So, greed has to equal good. I think that would be fine, actually. Nostr is just like HTTP or TCP/IP. It's just the plumbing. Maybe it will make a better web. I think it will because the public/private key pair and natural fit with Bitcoin help solve the problems of identity and also online micropayments. But the reality is, like with TCP/IP, the apps that make the biggest mainstream impact will be the ones who can make a moat and exploit their user base for maximum profit. So we can expect to see exclusive relays or at the very least proprietary elements in apps which make them sticky. You just can't be pouring millions into a project which someone down the street can then use to bootstrap a competitive service. This is the same reason Coinkite had to make its Coldcard licensing commercially restrictive. The reality of human incentives means that a utopian vision will never and can never be realized. Never.
And almost as important: there is no big amount of people. Nostr will have to climb the huge network effect of the other platforms.
It has to be explained to the masses with marketing, ease of use & to understand. You incentive to users that everything they do on other apps you can do it with Nostr BUT get paid lightin⚡️ bitcoins. Make it easy to understand for the common users and it will grow. It can’t be an alternative but a new app that’s has everything and more!
I agree with you in theory But from my experience, posting to X and YouTube helps to find others. I've been posting on all 3 platforms (nostr mainly) while talking about what makes nostr special. It's still foreign to most people - even bitcoiners - and so it's something that they have to hear about 10-20 times before doing it. It's a slow grind but we are definitely making progress.
NOT SURE IF WE ARE GOOD BUT WE ARE ON NOSTR ONLY (AND OUR OWN WEBISTE) AND WORKING ON ACCEPTING BTC ONLY WE DO NOT HAVE MANY PEOPLE INTERESTED IN OUR WORK, BUT HONESTLY, WE WILL REMAIN A NOSTR-ONLY ART COLLECTIVE REGARDLESS OF STATUS QUO ENJOY THE NOISE
If I knew I could exclusively get clients from here not through Linkedin, I would exclusively post on here. I will however post my content first on here. The change will likely be gradually then suddenly.
We need nuggets, local stars. Not boring developers, discussing what relays or applications we should use, and how many of them there should be. Namely, content makers. But for this we need the ability to grow the fan base, advertising contracts, monetization from impressions and other things, which are basic options for any social network.

My take on this question is: Unique capabilities. When there will be things that a creator can do only in Nostr, creators will come to Nostr
This has been my approach for sure. I post first to NOSTR then syndicate and have a tagline indicating “appeared first on NOSTR”. We have to meet people where they are at. Think of a church. If the church only ever said “hey we are over here come here..” …and they didn’t go into the streets, the bars, downtown etc… There’d be a lot less people attending church. After all, Jesus hung out with Sinners…I think the least we can do is pay the LinkedIn vagrants a visit 😜
What got me on NOSTR was actually a search for “decentralized social media”. A community I’m a part of was pushing Farcaster and migrating to it from Discord for support. I was like, “what’s Farcaster”…saw that it was (purported to be) decentralized and I wondered if there were similar social solutions. NOSTR came up…I saw it was Bitcoin based (economy wise) and further said, “why the heck would I go to an ETH based platform if I can be on a BTC one.” …the rest is history!
More people means more zaps. Nobody wants vc funded anything. Ideally, we the people get to decide with out sats
I agree with that too, but what if you announced to your YouTube audience that you’re going to go more in depth about a subject and to find that video, you have to go through nostr 🤷‍♀️
I don’t think we have a linkedin type of app or client yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone builds it eventually

Maybe I am Missing something. What feature does Nostr provide for a content creator who is not that interested in privacy anti censorship or bit coin technology?

I think @Noshole is right. I started posting exclusively on Nostr for exactly this reason. By the way, thanks for hanging out here. I enjoy your weird stuff. Cheers from the Bitcoin standard.
