Fuck yeah. Decentralise knowledge. Btc Sessions fiat alternative education is becoming a threat.

✨that will be exciting✨
it has been on the roadmap for awhile now adding blossom support was a prerequisite, all videos are now hashed and signed, with automatic mirroring much more to do
many different pieces to do it right, nostur does a great job of embedding zap stream in app, primal should too

Really?😳
Google has been doing this shit since day 1 before they even bought YouTube. Banning sites from the search results and shit. Its not just that they’re a big tech company so they have to censor. They choose to censor way more than they need to. I mean just look at Apple Podcasts. They could ban the same shit Google/YouTube does but usually they don’t. Google is just fucking weird in this way and hasn’t changed in decades. Eventually nostr fixes this but in the mean time its kind of surprising that Apple doesn’t try to compete with a less banhammer crazy video platform 🤷
dont waste the energy. they are doing that to themselves. they are ripe, low hanging fruit for disruption.
lot of moving pieces to do it right needs to be open and interoperable core pieces of blossom + hls with clean ui on top, can iterate from there

lets goo we need it 🤘🚀 fuck youtube💜🧡
Hi Odell, nice to meet you! We're Facebook Live or YouTube Live for Nostr, and the vision is Whatnot or Tiktok Shop for Nostr. See us on GitHub, Obtainium, Zapstore, TestFlight et al. Would love to see you do improv lives from mobile in addition to your main shows! @Shosho – Live Stream on Nostr
Can't wait for that! Hopefully more YouTubers will then place their content on Nostr. I can hardly watch any YouTube video these days without being disturbed by nerve-wracking commercials every five minutes. That model must be made obsolete.
Nostur is smooth Amethyst also works well But I guess the main problem we face is the lack of reach/audience I stream on the zaps every morning and the viewers increase each month Time is the main ingredient here
as someone who has been streaming both of my shows to zap stream and then posting them here for the last two years i have seen both the growth and the pain points lots of work needed
it will be in phases we shipped blossom support last month which is one of the core building blocks realistically, i would like to see a fully polished experience by end of year, on both the creator and viewer side
Been thinking of this quite a bit. For short video it's better to keep simple single mp4 files. HLS overhead makes sense for > 200MB or > 5min video. We also need to scale the blossom infrastructure (more servers, cashu payments, resumable uploads and expiration/temporary storage might also help).
yes, but the blossom spec means we do not need to host all the videos, anyone can host them, anyone can verify they have not been altered this brings additional anti censorship benefits as well
Imagine if this turned out to be even shittier than a YouTube clone by trying to make people pay for basic YouTube features without offering basic solutions like BitTorrent support or a JavaScript-free onion service to fix any of YouTube's main issues

I want this! But the main question is how is the hosting going to be handled? I mean you need a lot of server with lots of bandwith to deliver a decent experience. Also heavy compression on videos is a bad things, no one enjoys videos with artefacts.

Is it worth reaching out to odysee and seeing if there is the possibility of nostr intergration ? Similiar to @Fountain ? I'm not a tech guy so im sure there's reasons it wouldn't work, but might be interesting to explore...

I am not very familiar with the spec, but is the spec not refering strictly to signing/linking keys to a video? The question still remains who will host the video? The data has to come from someones server. And if you want to offer experiance comparable to YouTube, those servers need to: 1) be fast 2) content will be persistent, like 5 months from now. Futher more if you have 10k people using this the storage and bandwith scales with this number. So still not obvious to me how exactly that can work.
Odysee's bittorrent protocol is more scalable in this case, it achieves persistence for content by ensuring users also host it, via P2P. Blossom still requires dedicated servers and to my knowledge has no chunk-based fetching from different sources. Odysee essentially overcame this the same way BitTorrent works, by making every client app a server - You stream the video, then hold it for x amount of time locally, and seed that video back to other watchers in the background. Only way for Nostr to do the same, would be to have clients host a local relay (which some do, although there used to be more chatter and development about this a couple years ago) AND a Blossom server also, and you'd need to be able to fetch chunks from different sources, which I don't believe Blossom can do.

I guess they dropped the hammer on BTC Sessions. Probably a special hit paid for my PM Carney.
That sounds like it would be awesome. Something like LBRY client, but it takes cash payments.
I think many users would, myself included. But I think there's value in how Odysee does it by turning every client into a pseudo-seedbox. Think about what every app on your devifes caches - But sharing said cache. It's more decentralised, resilient, censorship-resistant and because of that, especially when paired with the idea of local Nostr relays running with clients, keeps more with the spirit of Nostr.
