Our trajectory of travel is clear. Digital ids will be required to access platforms. The architecture allows anyone guilty of “wrong speech” to be removed, not just from platforms, but from economic life. In a world where cash is no longer accepted, exclusion from an integrated digital banking system is total. You don’t need prisons. You just deny access. Leaders are losing control of the narrative that they once held through newspapers, TV and radio. Universal surveillance of speech combined with programmable money restores that control, quietly. But there is an alternative. There exists an entire architecture of freedom from the digital prison. Bitcoin is the separation of money and state. Nostr is the separation of speech and state. But base layers aren’t enough.
People don’t migrate for ideology, they migrate for economic viability. The killer app is paid publishing. Paid publishing with self sovereign identity, sovereign content and sovereign income all break the platform spell. @Fanfares is the escape route.
