My 1-year GitHub contribution streak is complete.
Thanks to all of you who helped make it happen βπ½
Doing this again for 365 days made me realize a few things. The biggest of all - AI has won. If you're a developer, you have to start integrating AI into your workflow. Google's Gemini 2.5 release in June marked the moment when AI-generated code became better than what an average dev produces. With the recent releases of OpenAI 5 (medium reasoning) and especially Claude 4.5 - it's game over. These models are easily in the top 10 percentiles.
And then - if you're not having fun coding right now, you're doing it wrong. It's such a special time to be a developer and play with the available tools.
It's all about who you're coding with and what you're building. There's so much demand for quality software that if you don't wake up every day motivated to work, just switch projects. There are plenty of great opportunities for good devs (especially in FOSS!), and more will keep coming as software continues eating the world.
