Now extend this to 300 million people. Should one person speak for all of them?

Tariff's are on imported goods. Most of that stuff is produced domestically. They should just stop subsidizing it with EBT payments.

this is the way my dude, tariff is just another name for taxation, and taxation is theft
Most of what's coming overseas is from China and is loaded with hormones that aren't allowed to be used here
You can't have tariffs on most of that because they're domestic products. You can only levy tariffs on imported products. But you can have an unhealthy food tax, tho it's not readily apparent why consuming some unhealthy foods means you should give the government more money. What would make more sense is a tax that goes to an individual health account every citizen had. The more shit you eat, the bigger your account balance will be. Then, when you gotta go to the doctor as a result of your poor eating habits, you'll be able draw from your health account to supplement whatever you insurance doesn't cover.

All taxes and tariffs are simply theft by government, a.k.a. organized crime.

500% tariffs on Vegan 'meat' substitutes. And use it to fund free Bacon for everyone world wide.
I would just start with a Tax on every product that uses any form of sugar. So when the product has may 10% Sugar the end price in supermarket is additionally taxed 10%. Suger dostroys so much health. Then all the income of the tax could go into the healthensurace of all citizens.

Tariffs are specifically an import tax levied on the exporting nation. It's definitionally impossible to put a tariff on domestic goods. You can tax domestic goods, but you can't put a tariff on them.
I don't like the absolutist judgements people put on various foods. This is good. This is bad. The fact is that it's not that simple. There is nuance and complexity to consider, along with the individual consumer's unique physiology, and lifestyle. That's why I don't support bans, in addition to the fact that I don't think the government should be deciding what people can and cannot choose to consume. Because that's not freedom. That's giving autonomy over to the state, which I definitely don't like!
when it comes to real food, if a person has issues when consuming it the issue is with the person, not the food that has been consumed for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.
It seems the only reason the establishment warns about its use is its high saturated fat content. But it also has a ton of benefits. So I think it makes more sense for people who have a preexisting heart condition for which saturated fats are a risk to selectively decide for themselves whether or not to consume it. For a large portion of the population, saturated fats aren't an issue, so it really doesn't make sense to make the blanket judgement that it's bad. Again, it's something informed individuals should choose for themselves based on their own criteria.
saturated fat in and of itself is not a problem. its the toxins most people consume all day everyday that causes the issues. saturated fat has been part of the human diet for milennia. never was a 'problem' until the seed oil propaganda began
Absolutely. It's circumstantial based on the individual. Another reason why it should be up to them to get educated, and make informed decisions about what's best for them while leaving everyone else alone to make the same decisions for themselves.
That's irrelevant when weighed against the fundamental freedom of the individual. Healthcare systems can change to accommodate fundamental freedom. Individuals shouldn't give up fundamental freedom to accommodate an artificial system that can be changed.

If you don't buy the junk food...then it is not a tax. That's the whole point. Discourage poor eating choices. If you choose to buy the junk food, you pay more since you will eventually be a burden on the healthcare system with your type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

You still have the individual freedom to buy the junk food or not. Nobody is stopping you.

I agree that this statement is extreme, but a more practical position can be carefully and rationally built starting from this baseline of complete rejection of past abuses.

Yeah, this one is not like the others. It stands up to high temperature better than most vegetable oils, too. Great for frying.
I think you're living in some sort of dreamstate where you're imagining an Anarcho-Utopia if just not for Tariffs. It's insane to think that if tariffs are going to be used, why not point them at the right things. Tariffs the way Trump is using them might end Tariffs worldwide, why is that no a possibile outcome?
people will still buy it. vice taxes do not work never have. but that is not the point. the point is fuck anyone begging for more taxes. ya'll are fucking slaves and dont even realize it
one discourages poor choices by educating them, not by robbery through the state. but why help others that way when you can just feign concern and let the state grow larger and fund more wars
This is true. I only argue, that there are goods and services, which have systemic importance. And I do not beleave, that competition is always a good answer. Sometimes colaboration is far more effective. In my eyes securing the humanitarian laws in a country benefits everyone. And to acchieve them I see a benefit if some goods are shared instead of privatized. I think the dificult part is setting up a shared government. To not only have an elected ruler, but that decisions are directly made through grassroots-democratic. Not delegated.
Yes, please defend my freedom to have my health ruined by food companies that literally bring in food scientists for the express purpose of making you crave their food while finding it unsatiating so you keep eating it. While you're at it, could you defend their freedom to buy up all the small farms so I have no choice but to eat what they sell?

Very good points and important to reconcile with individual autonomy and self- sovereignty. Sharing can create value and increase power for good - but it’s not easy to know when and who to trust.
