@primal gets a lot of unwarranted hate on here from a small group of increasingly irrelevant nostr users. @miljan and his team have built an incredible suite of apps and services that make using nostr ACTUALLY enjoyable. There are a handful of good nostr clients, and Primal is right at the top. I’ve played nicely with haters for long enough, and I’m going to be leaning in even harder to show my support for Primal and bringing more users to Nostr via their apps. To be clear, I’m not paid or hired and they haven’t asked me to do this. This is simply genuine support from someone who has used their products for the last 2 years and still love using them. I tried to use another app for Nostr (I won’t name it’s not an attack) for a year and it was just brutal… I nearly quit entirely but on a whim tried primal and now browsing Nostr has become one of my favourite things to do. It’s all in the user experience.

Primal was my first Nostr app that I used last year in July when I joined. I still use and enjoy it a lot, and the onboarding would have been next to impossible without them. I genuinely think that I would have dropped Nostr in less than a week with any other app.
I love using primal, the smoothness of it. Some people say it’s not real Nostr because of caching and the kyc wallet. I use it daily, sometimes I use Nostur. But Primal seems less buggy. For Desktop however Primal could use some big updates, it’s pretty to look at but nearly impossible for me to post on. Nostr is great and Primal is the cleanest UX I have used by far.

Primal is the reason I'm here. I tried out Nostr in the early days and quickly bounced. UI/UX was a big factor. Tried again recently with Primal and it stuck.
Thanks for the feedback. We hear you, and some big updates are in the pipeline for our web/desktop app. 👀 Should be a lot smoother in 1-2 weeks, stay tuned.
That’s great to hear, I appreciate the response. Keep it up 👍. One critique I have of the AppStores it it says it’s something about “Bitcoin social wallet.” I would get rid of the Bitcoin and let them see zaps first hand. Thanks for listening to my rants and praises!
it's true. i try every new client but always end up coming back to primal. even better now that they've fix a lot of the nitpicks i had. still more work to do of course.
this you can see in Fevela, you can click on the hamburger and it displays on which relay was published. image Primal should add this option too and also a view by relay and not by following. And I don't know why Primal removed the option to right click and save video or copy the URL. It sucks to have to go every time on nostr.com or njump.to to copy that URL And yes, I use nostr only on desktop.
I don’t know of a way to view other people’s relay lists in the mobile app. My other go-to client is @Nostur . I keep both installed because each is good at different things. Interoperability ftw. Here’s what that looks like on Nostur image
Thanks brother. I specifically was referring to this picture you posted on SN. Was that using Primal Desktop? image

Yep. Only relevant while they say it’s okay. I’ll take decentralized relays all day. Screw caching servers.
I joined nostr 2 years ago via Damus. I never came back. It was terrible. Damus may have come a long way since then, but I downloaded @primal two weeks ago and immediately deleted my Twitter account.
And in lies a brilliant example of the free market. People build what they want. Users choose what products they want. They key: competition and innovation are driving efficiency and quality Love this kind of story Should be inspiring to devs like @jb55 and @miljan to know their work is noticed, liked, and iterated upon What a world that is unfolding!
Primal has a great look and feel. I use it every now and then. Amethyst is still my go to because it remains more true to the Nostr ethos and spirit. Things like outbox model, TOR integration, maximum relay control, etc... Not to mention adding edit capabilities and it renders markdown.

Lots of nuts the size of peas.
i just don't understand why you guys don't just use X if you want centralized social media. it is much better and has more people.
I don't want centralized shit, which is why I built damus android/notedeck and am using it to type this message
It's a great client, and I would like to try it more. I am on Android, but I was just going to wait, assuming that maybe at one point it would be able to use a signet or a bunker. Obviously not complaining, not contributing any code to it.
Lol, jealous of a centralized client. Ya i wish my client was more centralized. Damus android is already better perf and more reliable, works offline.

Same experience in Feb 2024...Damus is a little better but Primal is 🔥🔥🔥
I am building this for myself and anyone else who cares about being a part of a decentralized future. I am not doing this for money. The money would be nice so i can hire more people and work on it without grants, but it’s not what motivates me. I couldn’t care less if people joined primal. If those users don’t care about decentralization then those aren’t the users we are targeting.
The fact we’re writing each other from different clients while both using nostr is the whole point. It’s like custodial lightning sending to non custodial lightning wallets. Each person decides if the trade offs are worth it.

Exactly the same. I dabbled with Damus for a couple days but nothing about it clicked. Not already being familiar with Twitter navigation, I chalked it up to user error. When I came back on Primal, it was revelation. So much more intuitive.
And Damus would probably argue that the trade offs is that it’s more centralized but that’s fine with me. I can always leave if that becomes and issue for some reason and go to a different nostr client.
Is there a app for watching podcasts. Currently using YouTube for my BTC content and looking fur something else.

You can also use PipePipe from @Zapstore. You can watch YouTube content without ads and download everything you need.
I see. In that case "Copy Note Text" from the context menu might be your best option. It's an extra step but all media URLs can be easily copied from there.
bravo sir so nice to see support for those who are genuinely trying to make a difference. we all screw up once in a while, but bring condemned for mistakes? also long time primal user. they have had their moments but they learn and move forward. it's all that can be asked. kudos @miljan and team and all other devs forging a better future for all of us.
