Honestly, don’t know what I want to see more. People not complying with that stupid diktat or people moving over here. 🤔😀
Wow. News to me. Fascinating couple of weeks, in which it’s so clear the large governments stance on freedom of speech tech TG & X have a ceo to go after, or registered users. Nostr is ofc a save haven from that I wonder, as a content creator, how does it “feel” to know you can publish somewhere that can’t be switched off? Each time this type of behaviour is seen only amplifies the use case for Nostr (like inflation or seizure of fiat does for BTC)
It's unlikely to happen if they use Mullvad as VPN and pay with a L3 solution like fedimint. Of course, the account must be anonymous. 🤔 Maybe they should stick with Nostr.
I’d be more worried about the embarrassment being seen using X than any fine. X lol

Brazilian folks try and pitch Nostr to your friends when you hear them complaining about this.

This is so insane… Brazil banning X and fine anyone $8,000 per day if they see them use X via VPN

Just an idea: now that he's made some enemies in the silicon valley, the us and perhaps europe should sanction him, possibly all the 11 dictators and the idiot who enables him by to using his constitutional attribution of impeaching him? There's like a thousand human rights violation associated with him.
They just need to make the threat to discourage a percentage of people that otherwise would give it a shot.

They also banned some VPNs from app store and play store but realistic they can’t track most people that use fake profiles.

Lol, dont know the specifics … but sounds like that gov deserves to get overthrown.
Yeah, but Bolsonaro is trying to move the target away from this bastard's head and nobody know why this crooked judge is so powerful and so protected. The main line of investigation points to the main drug cartel. Strong evidences indicates this judge is the strong man of the cartel in the supreme court
What's absolutely exciting about #nostr is that if people flock to it due to censorship of other platforms like X, it will retain and grow exponentially. And it can't be stopped or censored like X can be. While still allowing various controls to protect people's identities or verify identities depending on each user's login. This plaform is EPIC for free speech.

NymVPN distinguishes itself with its distinctive blend of a mixnet and a decentralized VPN. By design, and in contrast to traditional VPNs, NymVPN cannot access user data or browsing history, nor link traffic to personal information, such as email or payment details. NymVPN also distinguishes itself with a multi-hop routing by default. This combination offers unparalleled online privacy and security across all online use cases. Check our NymVPN litepaper for more detailed information.

Lo de Brasil es otro nivel... Te multan si usas X con una VPN... Cuando los estados pierden el control de la narrativa, empiezan a tomar acciones extremas. View quoted note →

Can they actually “see” them, or have they made the fine so insanely large that it scares people into not using a vpn ?

Brazil is gonna convert a whole bunch Brazilians into NOSTRich bitcoiners
It's natural, anyone who doesn't learn to use decentralized technologies will be obliterated by dictators
I think that depends on the VPN. Some don't obfuscate so the #ISP can clearly see the customer is using a #VPN. I imagine if they can, it's one more law away, forcing ISPs to block VPN destination outside the country?
I think they do now. That's not really an issue here in the #UK where I can buy a sim and atop up for #cash in my local supermarket, but i don't know what that's like in #Brazil.
I don't know what's available in #Brazil but generally speaking, #nordvpn and #expressvpn both offer obfuscation. #astrill offer some very sophisticated #obfuscation that even works in #China but they're very expensive.

Yes exactly it is like nested vpns but fare more secure.
#SurfShark is very good value actually, one of my picks. #IPVanish is on the expensive side unless you enter a very long contract. It also had trackers on it's site ast time I checked, while #Mullvad had none.
To clarify, for me, the ad #trackers are nothing to worry about. Right now in #Brazil I probably wouldn't want that when I'm signing up.
