On the web client, i would like an option to auto-refresh the feed (like Jumble). That's my only complain. πŸ˜‰
The ability to run well in Tor Browser with an equilibrium between Ditto+NoScript+Tor's "Safer" security level. eg. no forced hard refreshes until Ditto.pub has a newer version that broke our caches' functionality. But probably the easiest asks would be, let us open posts in a new tab via right click context menu, or left click+key combos across platforms.
Nmail looks interesting (kind 1301, nostrmail.org). Also, cashu looks interesting, but I don't know much about it (or zaps in general, tbh, never even setup an LN wallet for Nostr).
What we have on Nostr is groups. I don't think groups is communities. I've built several groups implementations and didn't like any of them. Real communities are outside. So I'm more interested in figuring out how to get people to go outside, and to see other people in real life. Also, people want to have conversations. I want to create something that facilitates authentic conversations, but I don't think it's groups.
> I don't think groups is communities. This is true. > Real communities are outside. Arguably they are also on many platforms, such as Reddit and Discord primarily. My Canadian friend's response: "Yeah just go outside and visit Alberta to hang out with my friend" (I'm in the US, far from Canada) Threaded imageboards routinely facilitate authentic conversations. Even here we can find authenticity. The problem is scaling "segregated" communities. Is it possible? How do federate a relay network? But in a meaningful way. We can all dance around the conceptuals but I downloaded a new game last week, a small indie game, and I immediately visited reddit for the first time in months because that is the go-to place for new communities. There were plenty of players there who were happy to discuss the game. No spam, no porn, just authentic conversations. I don't mean to undermine the problem of scaling this architecture, it's just the only reason I am here in the first place (going on 4 years). I run relays for this reason. I built a client for this reason. I still use Reddit and Lemmy for this reason. The demand is very real. Reddit is a shit company but an incredibly meaningful platform. I use Lemmy more than anything because it delivers the same experience at the tradeoff of lower activity and quality. Pubky argued against it on the basis of having to make changes to their architecture (whooptie doo). I don't use Pubky for this reason.

go outside? I'm a hikikomori lol
It's not about my local ecosystem. I can make friends and share interests where I am located. The problem is there are people abroad who share those interests even more, and connecting with them requires a shared connection and space for doing so. It is obviously not any better for everyone to move to one location. Authentic conversation isn't derived by voting with your feet. We do that digitally even, when we switch platforms or clients. My desire to chat with my friend in Canada has no impact on where I choose to live. Likewise, in my example about the video game, I have two friends who play it with me. They aren't going to uproot their lives to enjoy a week-long co-op experience. Video games end and relationships evolve over time. I like birds but it doesn't drive my social media experience by any measure. I don't even care to browse birds. It's like a passive interest at best.
It is long form with a custom tag, if you wanted to differentiate. That would create a custom feed for recipes only vs all articles combined giving a new discovery feed, or provide a filter option in the article. Either way, cool 😎
Honestly it is not a feature, just something I don't quite understand. I feel I don't have the same experience if I use Amber instead of my nsec. Ditto with Amber is not functional to me 🀷
Also, I'd wonder if NIP-99 (marketplaces) might be a good fit too. I'd bet there's an overlap between whimsy-maxers on Ditto and an interest in an etsy style decentralized stor front.
