Yeah we've been appealing to property rights and to the intellectual dishonesty of Core devs. Many people understood but enough are so gullible, we had to be more blunt and impactful with our points. It's sad that people are this brainwashed. Even Calle and many who have made awesome things really don't understand personal responsibility and property rights, which are what make Bitcoin work.

As far as I can see the best thing I can do is run knots for now and help people see why they might not want core 30. One thing at a time. I feel hopeful.
Its frustrating to see this pattern. The Good enters the world ; the bad copies and corrupts it ; the Good reacts too slowly ; the end result is very far from the original intent. If we just learned to react faster or stronger or be more proactive, we might get the maximal Good. I don't want half wins and mediocrity. I want the win.
Hey Matt! Not sure if this is a big or not…. But you may need to empty out that zap wallet.. Primal won’t let me zap your posts because your limit would be exceeded. image

To me everything is going perfectly and we have already "won". I just enjoy watching and being part of perhaps the biggest change in human history. Fearless.
That's because most people are evil, pretending they are not responsible for their own lives. Only responsible stewards are gonna safeguard Bitcoin to a high degree. This is why Luke is wrong about needing 85% of users to run a node and Mechanic is right that a much smaller number will do. We should be appealing to the most responsible, logical people by giving noderunners the respect for their autonomy and choice and capability to run responsible policies, and not expecting your everyday douchebag to know what's good for him.

Hardfork not required, or desired. Softfork can achieve all of the above, and remain backwards compatible.
Hacker News is full of engineers. The tech discussions are usually useful and interesting, but the moment they go into non-technical stuff? You will see how arrogant they can get—often blind to their own ignorance. I have know sharp engineers in real life too, and a lot of them are also closed-minded and cocky. The exceptions? Usually folks building mission-critical systems or complex infrastructure, where mistakes can be catastrophic. Watch "core" torch their reputation by refusing to course-correct, just doubling down until it is all gone.

I'm disgusted by all this. I may just go to Sen. Warren .. I'm a Massachusetts resident ... might just need to nuke the whole thing if Bitcoiners choose to stay asleep. In the meantime ... law enforcement needs to tipped off about POrtlandHODL stealing Comcast data and running DDOS attacks. The SEC needs to look into the CEO of $MARA cheering it on. Has Michael Saylor woken up yet ?
You people are ridiculous. You don't understand the technicalities and when you don't get what you want or get certain people supporting your arguments you go cry to the authorities. You are the epitome of an anti-bitcoiner. image
Filtering doesn't remove it from the chain. Who decides what a "regular" transaction is? Isn't it regular if it follows the chain consensus rules and pays the fee? Limits? No. That's like saying bitcoin transactions limit the number of transactions.

I'm running Knots. I do under the the technicalities. I understand errors from the BSV debacle and the influence of VC money on the Core Devs. I'm also tipping off the FBI ... and trying wormhole my way to the POTUS, Don Jr., Eric and other DC players balls deep in Bitcoin. Contacting Senator Elizabeth Warren might be a last ditch effort. She can pin this all on the Trumps to great effect. Met a CFTC lawyer yesterday just by chance ... he sorta confirmed my fears about opening up OP_RETURN like this. I'm a HVAC Tech in Massachusetts whose employer serves the elite or the elite .. I meet people from Fidelity, Federal Agencies, State Agencies, investment advisors, law enforcement, retirees with lots of time on their hands ... all the time. I talk to them in their basements while they're in their flip flops and worn t-shirts.
So what you're saying is that people just trying to make regular Bitcoin transactions have a larger fee budget than VCs making money off scamming people with inscriptions?
The transaction fees are nothing when you sell each inscription at 1+ BTC. And even if, that doesn't matter. People will either find a way to make money off spam, or make spam because they want to destroy Bitcoin, not only through destroying its reputation, but through making a node impossible to run and in turn, creating centralization. image
You are listening to the wrong people but telling you that is not going to deter you from this mistaken view you have adopted. Running Knots and having node options is good, but this argument about spam killing bitcoin is FUD and now I see people threatening to call Elizabeth Warren if Core doesn't do as you people want. This is the sort of group you are aligning with. Good grief 🤦
So, your entire argument is "spam killing bitcoin is FUD", with no logical explanation? Do you even run a node? Do you know how huge the Bitcoin blockchain is? Would you really rather take up your disk space that you paid for with CP and inscription doodles rather than regular transactions that people like you and me are trying to make?
Yup, I run a node have done for years and soon will need to get a larger ssd. You could run a pruned node if you are concerned about the size of the blockchain
Running a pruned node makes it harder to use with wallets like sparrow or running an electrum server. If the blockchain becomes too bloated, people will give up and start using public nodes and block explorers instead. The only nodes running will be by corporations. And SPV doesn't fix this. When you can't fully verify all transactions, all the running nodes could simply put an invalid transaction in the blockchain, and SPV nodes will believe it if enough PoW is provided. This will create coins out of thin air. Of course, this won't happen anytime soon even with inscriptions, but corruption will eventually make Bitcoin Core increase the block size and will try to turn Bitcoin into a shitcoin like Solana.
Even without "spam" how large do you think the blockchain will be in 10 or 20 years? Potentially billions of people will be using bitcoin at that point, it will be huge compared to what we have now. What happens then? Roughly 2-4% of the blockchain has some kind of media/images on it today. Are people going to run nodes if the blockchain is 25TB (without images) or will they say it's too big? You have zero evidence of Core corruption, that's just fake news being spread by people trying to fool you.
Even if 2-4% would be spam (which I think it will be much higher), simply switching to knots (or reverting the filters to how they have been working fine for the last decade) will help have less spam on the chain, even if it is 2-4%. And who would "fool me" into this, and what incentive would they have?
Why would it be higher? Why isn't it higher now while the fees are so low? Remember, once a billion or more people are using bitcoin the fees will increase significanly and putting images on will become extremely expensive. Fooling/decieving others into believing Core is compromised (with no evidence whatsoever & mostly to new bitcoiners) in order to get them to use Knots instead. Knots is ok to use but the accusations and lies are a disgrace.
It’s not my job to save other noderunners. I won’t relay spam. They are right when they say “you can’t stop us from relaying spam” well that’s correct. I’m sorry that it’s literally the core dev team that is saying that though.
Everyone just needs 1 good node to verify their transactions. It’s portlandhodl who spins up 100 core nodes to pretend to “vote” It’s not a democracy.
There is no "the mempool". There is your mempool, there is my mempool, and each miner has its own as well. I don't believe Core decides what a "regular" transaction is. Why do you give them that power? Whatever is in the chain is a transaction. "Regular" is nonsense.

Bitcoin core is positioning itself as the number one enemy of bitcoin...even if they course correct, nodes running their software needs to become inconsequential for the greater good

Yeah, coders actually always think they're geniuses at every area of life rather than having the humility to realize they only know how to code apps. most dont even know how to use the apps they code...I always wonder about that...let's see what software developers do when AI does all the coding and their skills no longer earn them outsized salaries like it does now

We need a Bitcoin hard fork, before the core update next month! Even if core scrap the update next month, we still need a hard fork to stop anyone from changing the op_return limit in the future. This needs to be hardwired in the Bitcoin Protocol. Keep Bitcoin Alive. 🧡
I will try my best to be more of a class act. But i cant promis i will stick to it all the time because i simply am a very adversarial and unpleseant person. I hardly like any of you as people, but i cheris those of you who are fighting the good fight against the fiat warlords and tht currently all comes together on the Knots side. Thanks for your service and dont affiliate urself with me 🤠

We are looking for an investor who can loan our holding company 237,000 US dollars. With this money, we will open a farm in Baku, Azerbaijan to produce animal-based food. We will also make our own animal feed, so our products will be healthier, better quality, and cheaper. Because we sell quality products for less and have strong advertising, we will sell more worldwide and make big profits. Why Azerbaijan? Because animal farming makes a lot of money there, but few people do it. That’s why we will earn more by starting in Azerbaijan. Additionally, by producing our own animal feed, we will be able to sell healthier, higher quality animal products at a lower price. Since we can sell quality products cheaply and thanks to our strong advertising network, we will be able to sell more internationally and make huge profits. The reason for establishing the business in Azerbaijan is that animal husbandry is a very profitable business in Azerbaijan, but since there are very few people doing animal husbandry, establishing the farm in Azerbaijan will provide us with more income. Your profit: You will lend 237,000 US dollars to our holding company and when 22.03.2026 comes, you will receive your money back as 953,000 US dollars. Your earnings will be great. When 22.03.2026 comes, you will get your money back as 953.00 US dollars. You will lend 237,000 US dollars to our holding company and when 22.03.2026 comes, you will receive your money back as 953,000 US dollars. When 22.03.2026 comes, I will give you back your money in the amount of 953,000 US dollars. That means you will earn 716,000 US dollars profit in just 6 months.
