What implications does this have if dividing sats by decimals, ultimately, anyway? That's a question, not an activist statement guised as one.
fair enough, rather than crying on social media they went ahead and built it the way they think is best ✊

I thought the point was one line through the B instead of two until you called this out and I saw they used the two-line version at the top showing conversion rate. It would make cents (shameless dad joke) to do two lines for a dollar, one line for a Bitcoin cent (Sat)
This display is simpler and easier to understand. It lets everyone know that it is Bitcoin that is being paid, and also knows the smallest unit of Bitcoin, sats. It will not make people misunderstand Bitcoin inflation. $10 = 9,256 Bitcoin. image View quoted note →

Sorry, Bitcoin, not dollar with the two lines. Brain fart. 🧠💨
It doesn't take a great deal of mental gymnastics to realise that 9,256=$10 is in sats, does it? We are still early. Not that long ago 1 BTC was equal to $10. It won't be long before 1 sat is equal to $10. It won't be long before there isn't a dollar. This is fine.
Not my fight. I think people should be able to easily digest what they pay. Also think we should plan for a time when things are only priced in fractions of a bitcoin. Don’t care what you call it just find a way to make whole and less than whole legible.
do you need a , in a 4 digit number ? it shows the bitcoin symbol but for me its still sats

Lived abroad and got used to the difference notations but full stops are easily confused with decimals right, surely commas make more sense?
Actually, this is more like "potato, tomato" since: ₿ = #Bitcoin ( #BTC ) ฿ = Thai Baht ( #THB ) Sats are the standard; we're keeping #sats. 🤙

quite confusing lol
A new sats symbol is coming soon! 1 BTC = $100,000,000 It’s a capital S (for Satoshi) with a vertical line through it. You know, it's simpler! 😎

That’s awful!! Gonna confuse the shit out of ppl and drove them away Sats vs BTC is not that hard to understand. The key is to have a reason to give a shit Tell your BTC marketing department to focus on the reasons for ppl to give a shit and just stay humble and stack sats

Great to see progress! With the creation of symbols, we are always going to have differing opinions. I look forward to me seeing the symbol in apps and immediately recognizing what it means.

Where did this QR code come from, it asks for an email to add to a google doc ?

I don't see that QR code on any Square site I click on. The QR code asks for an email to add to a google doc which doesn't seem very secure.
some intern probably made it but this is what the terminal ux looks like right now its being tested in the vegas merch store, supposedly rolling out to all square merchants shortly

lol, ok Square bitcoin services have been restricted to "eligible" sole props and didn't allow LLCs to use the features. Seems like that is an extension of KYC rules. Press release states "qualified"/"eligible" users by 2026. Will be using Zeus integration in the mean time and route around the friction.

₿ for bitcoin. $ for dollar. ₿$ or B$ for bitcoin sats.
Why the push to erase references to sats as the base unit of Bitcoin? It is the only unit understood by the bitcoin protocol.
View quoted note → Nah.. this is dumb. That looks like "Bitcoin" which is not the same unit as sats. Also, anyone suggesting "bits" is mad. A bit is a measurement of data. "sats" are to Bitcoin as "cents" are to "Dollars". We could always do SI Units like "millibitcoin". Or make a symbol for sats that's a play on the extinction of the dollar..
