The nsec is your Nostr private key and cannot be replaced. Meaning once someone gets access to it, you're cooked.

No have EFANI and control phone and email. Had 2fa on. Have no clue how they did this.

I was sim swapped. It was a T-Mobile employee. My phone still worked but some accounts I had were compromised. It was weird.
I'd assume it's an inside job. From within X. Someone was social engineered, had their laptop stolen or something where they had access to the database of X.
Anyway.
I'm reminded of this:

My Twitter account has been hacked. @LawrenceLepard on Twitter is not me. I have no idea how this happened. No information given. 2Fa on. They disabled 2fa, changed email, changed password. Another reason to ditch Twitter and go NOSTR! Second time, I mean WTF. DM security experts who can help with recovery. Ty.

Sorry that happened. I’d say shut it down, but since I will only ever see your notes on nostr and never in X, that’s easy for me to say. Might be fun though to find out how many will come here if they know it’s the only place to find you.

It happened to me two years ago, after I opened a doctored message. I contacted the Twitter assistance. I had to answer some verification questions. Once I regained access I opted for a 2FA based on Yubikeys.

Potential cause: many people sync their 2FA to the cloud. On Android this is even the default 😖, not sure about iOS. As a result, your cloud account becomes the weakest link and a hacker only needs access to that in order to gain access to all your accounts, including 2FA.
An alternative is X staff messing around. Their security and customer support staff have been slashed in the name of "efficiency"
Best long term fix: ditch X, embrace nostro
