it's been a while since i've used Discord. anyone still use it often? what are your favorite features from Discord that you'd love to see in a nostr enable alternative?

No, I forgot he exists.😊
cool. what features of Discord do you like though. i get that you use it for chatting, but what keeps you coming back to Discord?
Discord is absolute garbage. I stopped using it in 2020, knowing the writing on the wall.
Instead, I have Matrix (Nitro Chat being my homeserver of choice) and Nerimity (think a cross of features from Discord, Revolt and Guilded). Both of which are Free Software options.
En realidad queremos salir de ahí, pero necesitamos construir algo similar
Algún día lo haremos necesitamos tiempo
woohoo for free software!
sometimes I read nostr group if there is news there
I haven't used Discore since about 2020 as well. I haven't used Matrix since about 2022 😬
I used it last year, but very rarely. Like Instagram and Twitter, I ended up uninstalling it.
Channel management and all of my friends are there since I never used twitter
It's a glorified notebook honestly
- Channel management
- Voice channels that can be turned on and off.
what do you mean turned on and off? if you don't want to join it, then don't join it? what am i not understanding?
we gotta get you some new friends Tekka! i kid. i kid. channel management is a good one.
Have it. Barely use it. Whatever is simple would be best.
Channels and Events
Nostr and Discord are two vastly different apps
I can’t think of anything I’d like to see enabled here
there are 🙄
I'm better at making enemies 😅
For further context regarding discord, imagine I am a part of 100 discord servers.
Let's say I operate 10.
3 of them might be personal servers for specific friend groups to share data.
7 of them would be bookmarking and information management. This is a whole server with nobody but me in it, managing information for myself.
So I'm using dm's and private servers far more than public servers.
The ~90 public servers I keep muted and rarely look at.
I'd be happy to help with Nerimity, since I used it for a year or two.
Heck, even Nostriches might be interested in something like that.
I used to have about 90 servers that were fully muted too 😂
Yeah that what I meant in essence. They dont actually get turned off I suppose, people just start using them. Bit like a space.
this and search and normies building meshtastic there
BRK uses it to connect its users and create a little community
A proper Nostr version would be incredible though
There are what?
in the nostr version of discord
I'm not familiar with an existing Nostr version of Discord. Care to share some useful information? 🙄
Thank you
