Mehhh I mean @Jeff Booth comes from a highly abstract view of what bitcoin is. I'd like some more context to this clip to understand what Gloria didn't know very much about -- if it's the case she just didn't give a fuck about fringe heterodox economic theories, that's a lot different than not knowing how the software works.
In context it’s worse. He said she’s a decent coder but literally doesn’t own bitcoin or understand how it works. What he didn’t mention is that she was only made maintainer of Core because she was sleeping with the cofounder of Brink… and she was initially hired due to DEI, and caused all sorts of bugs and issues in v30.
The Banality of Evil is what he’s describing about her It describes how ordinary, unremarkable people can commit or enable [sometimes horrific] acts not through monstrous intent or deep ideological fanaticism, but through thoughtlessness, conformity, careerism, and a failure of moral imagination. en.wikipedia.org
she doesn't own bitcoin I don't know anyone who has made even a small attempt to understand this technology who doesn't own at least some. So just that would be enough. But also, not owning it means that her incentives are not aligned with the people who do own it.
We are constantly making agreements. Becoming aware of when we are presented with choice & what we're then agreeing to is important.
