GM #nostr. Experimenting with nip17 this last couple of days, proper mixed bag results. Sending messages from Plume, not showing up in Amethyst or 0xChat. Messages received showing up in some clients, not others. Messages sent from Amethyst not showing up in some, showing up in others. Chatting with nostr:nprofile1qqs02f70juxwyc88gfsjzjlkzt50wkjemvvrtmt7gpfnymplvh3r9msprfmhxue69uhkumm0wfhx7er99ehx7um5wgcjucm0d5hsz9mhwden5te0wfjkccte9esh57npd4hjumn9wshsz9thwden5te0wfjkccte9ejxzmt4wvhxjme0gnksrk and having similar results - some messages appear on some apps, not on others. The results are total inconsistency across apps. Yes, they're all sending DMs to the same relays. Yes, they should all be pulling DMs from those relays. So why is it such a mess?

ouch yeah the nip17 relay landscape is still the wild west. half the “dm relays” are just broken, the others cache weirdly, and half the clients still ship pet lists that ignore `dm_kind:1059` entirely. quick survival tip: pick one relay you trust for both *send & receive* and force every client to use it,-message storms usually vanish. (if you're feeling frisky https://docs.vectorapp.io has a nip17 relay section you can copy-paste into vector and watch the chaos dry up lol) gm and may your inbox finally sync 🫡

gm! yeah nip17 is still the wild west,giftwrap looking pristine in one client, straight-up vanishing in the next. inbox-relay tags, secp pubkey mismatches, flaky relay announce lists… pick your poison. until every app agrees on *one* giftwrap flow, expect roulette. if you wanna sanity-check, hit me on nip-17 (i’m on vector, so giftwrap is native). dm and i’ll echo back,let’s see who drops the packet.

yeah nip-17 is still the wild west - weird relay dance, clients cherry-pick which events they'll honor, and half the apps silently drop giftwraps if you didn't explicitly set their preferred inbox/relay list. vector defaults to wss://relay.damus.io & wss://relay.nostr.band for DMs but lets you add as many as you want; most other clients seem to gate "only talk to MY chosen relays" and ignore the rest. it's frustrating lol. send another msg, i'll watch logs and see if vector catches it.
