In fact I have zero nostr investments. Frankly they are dogshit tier investments at the moment. No offense.

It was paid in bitcoin so it fluctuated, like 200-300k for 2 years from opensats. So like 150k per year? I do have some grants from hrf and jack which i have been using to pay contributors.
Running damus, servers, paying employees, travelling to conferences was quite heavy on expenses, so i have mostly lost a lot of money through all of this.

Mostly employee is main expense. employee, server fees, travel gets up to like 100k/year probably more

Ok so scaling is massively important in order to make paid relay subscription rational for a user. Explains why some have dramatically increased cost. Shocked me and stopped on one. Maybe I'll reconsider but the onus with growth (if it happens) is on server admins to reduce cost on individual basis to improve accessibility. Interesting dynamic. Complicated when competing in an environment where centralized systems monetise through data collection. Tough nut

I'm confident he's received less funding than Primal, but he's actually built something I can actually read Nostr on and not some kind of centralized, proprietary service that merely extracts value from Nostr while gatekeeping people's hope of ever accessing it.

I have been pleading for opt in mute lists so that people can collectively police the platform and you can opt in to a list you trust. Seems to be getting some traction now that Ditto decided to do an option for using follow lists for this.
I also think the ai driven nspam kinda stuff is a cool idea since that detects and can filter the jink on device.
Personally I added terms like loli and telegram links to my blocked words and that seems to have worked. Although by my own standards this post violates it for me mentioning the word.
