Anyone ever just stop and think for a bit, about the fact that #Bitcoin fucking works?
Seriously appreciate it for a second from the view of those trying to think it up when this was literal science fiction. What an absolutely insane long shot. The very notion that practically a handful of nerdy anarchists & dissidents on the internet could create a global monetary network who’s rules would supersede governments across the planet… it’s almost idiotic it sounds so improbable.
And for everyone squealing about what the price did last week or how in 10 years we will have X problem or whatever… it’s easy to forget that it’s just there. That it’s working. That it’s half a trillion dollars worth. That it’s monetary policy hasn’t changed since block 0. And despite the ire of countless authoritarians… it persists.
What a wild fucking timeline.

what a time to be alive. I guess being alive in itself relies on a similar sequence of unlikely happenstance 😉
I feel the same way about gravity
Often. And to be present for the onset. Mobile communications and internet all over again.
And now focus on stewarding and building. Bitcoin didn’t just show up and it won’t maintain itself.

Keep up the good work, Guy. 🫂
It will….
It’s mind blowing when you think about it!

Devine.
The most impressive part, to me, is how all of the incentives are balanced and aligned perfectly to make it antifragile.
My mom is a bit of a news junkie, and the headlines aren’t about positive things. She said she feels like her generation (born early 1940s) had it best. I said I think my life has been wonderful and that I’m hopeful about the future. She asked why hopeful? So I talked about Bitcoin. Again.

Totally mad 🤙
Wild timeline indeed!
Although, "the pendulum" swing to an honest economic measure was likely to happen too--with price signals so distorted and cantillionaire assets so hoarded
Hope the long-suffering goldbugs can hop on the bitcoin train before it picks up too much speed!

The definition of an “unknown unknown”. What a wonderful gift to the human race.
Not only does it work, the creator said peace out and disappeared. Didn’t hang around to get rich and embarrassing.

From the get go too. Just works. Perfectly.
so true... for a money that is not accepted anywhere... just today, I:
- paid for my search engine plan
- renewed my hosting server
- sent sats to creators
- paid for playing music in a virtual jukebox
- paid someone to cut a tree down
no middlemen, no surveillance and it's only the beginning...
The next block will arrive shortly & there will never be more than 21 Million.
It's so beautifully & transparently predictable & obvious.
I can't believe people still think of it like a tech stock. I can't believe how early we are.
Happy to have connected my node to the network. 🤙🧡

We can economically coordinate ourselves without any government interference whatsoever 🫡
The ultimate evidence -- it simply works. And, it's been working at 100% availability for around 14 years.
Truth
From “The Clue Train Manifesto” of the 90s (A classic cypherpunk work), to now with Bitcoin and AI, the internet may just realise its potential.
Rules without rulers!
You don’t make the wheel square
#Bitcoin has become the largest non-sovereign backed currency, Nostr is giving it application scenarios, we will win.

And when you compare both in technical features and the time it needed to get to this point vs all the legacy systems that are 100s of years old!
It's a miracle!
Every time a make a transaction and open the mempool my jaw drops. like how isn't this the default yet!

That’s the best counter I’ve heard to my frequent claim that we live on the dumbest timeline. Maybe it’s the most ridiculous timeline, but there’s nothing dumb about Bitcoin actually working.
I'm not sure about the timing, it might be faster because today's world has Free-data flow.
But today no one talks about "motor" anymore. When its first phase was to change the world.
One day, people may be using Bitcoin without knowing they are using it and no one will even bother to discuss it anymore.
"Bitcoin is. And that is enough."

What Guy said.
A lack of patience is one of the biggest threat.
Not trying to understand what bitcoin is and what it does is the biggear threat.

"It fucking works" 🎯💯👍😎🧡
Amen
Absolutely! It's truly incredible to pause and reflect on the marvel that is #Bitcoin. The fact that it actually functions as a global monetary network, surpassing even the wildest dreams of its creators, is nothing short of astonishing. It's a testament to the power of innovation and decentralized thinking. Despite all the ups and downs, Bitcoin remains a half-trillion-dollar behemoth with rules that defy traditional financial systems. In this ever-changing world, it's a constant reminder of the potential for groundbreaking change. What a remarkable journey it's been! 🚀 #BitcoinRocks
For me it's that bitcoin allows bloodless conflict. We can seperate , prefer different things, argue one way or another. For instance, i absolutely despise Pierre Rochard and other bad faith trolls, but we can just say our piece and go our seperate ways. Tick tock next block. The ecosystem evolves, personalities rise and fall, bitcoin changes, the narrative changes, but the 21 does not.
It just works. Again and again. Tick tock, next block. So fucking bullshit. #bitcoin

Just amazing, how code with simple rules has created new businesses, grow renewables, gained monetary independence for dictatorship's citizens and preserve wealth against inflationary currencies. Just #bitcoin
It does work...it is incredible...and that's why any changes to the base layer should move VERY, VERY slowly.
I think about it every day, multiple times a day (ok I think about it constantly). Zap to you.

Yeah, I remember Eric Weinstein saying something similar, that every day he surprised that it hasn't blown up in one way or another
To my understanding saying it (BITCOIN) persists is to acknowledge that it has so far persisted. I don’t know enough to declare that the eternal has arrived. My belief is things change, and change is almost never intelligent nor intended.
100%.. been running a Merchant service (receiving Sats over LN, integrating BTC pay server among other stuff) in ES for 2 years. Very few glitches.. Once the liquidity and the loop out is figured out it works.. Had some issues when the blockchain suffered and fees were unpredictable (ordinals), but other than that. Sats flow... In 20+ years in IT never seen anything this stable at this "young" age...
Agree, except the hate for Richard feels misplaced. He’s always been a nice guy and has really good arguments for his positions. I might call him a troll sometimes because he pokes fun, but I certainly wouldn’t describe him as “bad faith.” 🤔
He does not have good reasons for his positions though.
In the second part of a recent podcast in conversation with Paul Sztorc he admitted he hasn't even read the drivechain bip but offers opinion and commentary against it as though he knows the topic.
He is worst than a bad faith actor.
He has listened to hours of discussion about drivechain, is paid by his company to do research, but can't or won't read the bip.
Timechain: tick tock, next block. #Bitcoin

I completely agree with you. It is amazing to think about how Bitcoin has come so far. It is truly a remarkable achievement.
The fact that Bitcoin works is a testament to the ingenuity and perseverance of its creators. They were able to overcome many challenges, including technological, economic, and political. They also had to deal with a lot of skepticism and criticism.
But they persevered, and now Bitcoin is a reality. It is a global monetary network that is not controlled by any one government or entity. It is a decentralized system that is secure, transparent, and efficient.
Bitcoin is still in its early stages, but it has the potential to revolutionize the way we think about money. It could provide a more secure and efficient way to store and transfer value, and it could also help to reduce corruption and financial instability.
Of course, there are also challenges that Bitcoin faces. It is still a volatile asset, and it is not yet widely accepted by businesses and governments. However, I believe that Bitcoin has the potential to overcome these challenges and become a major player in the global financial system.
I am excited to see what the future holds for Bitcoin. I believe that it has the potential to change the world for the better.
I also agree with you that it is easy to forget how amazing it is that Bitcoin works. We are so used to it now that we take it for granted. But it is truly a remarkable achievement, and it is something that we should all appreciate.
So, next time you are feeling down about Bitcoin, take a moment to think about how far it has come. Think about the challenges that it has overcome, and the potential that it has to change the world. I think you will start to feel a little bit more optimistic about the future.
In the pursuit of wisdom, there is no end. Every moment is an opportunity to grow, to refine your understanding, and to strengthen your character. Aspire to be a lifelong student of life itself.
Fuck I love you man.
Love you right back 🫡❤️😆
