My Lebanese friends say they drink a tbs as a first thing in the morning, for health benefits. But their olive is of unseen quality, not bitter, smooth like honey. Good photos btw, I guess you need that sunshine to accompany the oil tasting
Yeah, I heard people say the same here in Greece. And many people having lived in the mountains, in tune with nature and having had their daily olive oil stayed healthy and became very old. It's a sign of quality if the oil is spicy and bitter when it's fresh. Later it becomes golden, soft and rounded in taste. Lebanon must have great olive oil too!!
I didn't know that about the oil freshness. Thanks!
Btw speaking of Greece, have you heard of Icaria being a longevity hotspot? Have you explored what they eat? One day I will go and check, God willing.
Icaria is supposed to be really nice, they say still with hippie vibes, but I haven't been myself yet. The food in Greece in general is amazing, such fresh products, it's a delight! I wish you will go see it for yourself one day, inshallah.
Green gold.
Indeed!!
That’s awesome
nothing like fresh olive oil ❤️
Prefer it like this. Fresh pressed 🫒
Yes, it's quite special ... so good in salad 👌🏼
That cloudy green… pure proof of work.
We’re pressing ours these days in Sicily, a small family batch, soon to be shared ⚡️🫒
Your Lebanese friend is right, that spoon a day really is a blessing.
Pure health, pure happiness. 🌿💧
Good timing. Today when having lunch the restaurant owners offered a free appetizer of crispy bread with their own olive oil on top. Best marketing because later I came back to buy a bottle with this only purpose: drinking this oil the following mornings 😄✌ it was in Santa Maria delli Angeli near Assisi, Umbria

I hope one day I will visit you and try yours!
You’re always welcome here, Kuba 🌿
You’re right, the best way to fall in love with olive oil
is with warm, crispy bread…
and maybe a bit of oregano too (one of my favorite touches, I put it on everything). 🫒⚡️
Anyway, Umbria is an incredible region — excellent choice. 🇮🇹✨
Icaria has a little bit radio activity more than usual. Not harmful but just a little more. Some say this is the reason. I believe the reason is a peaceful life with no stress and slow rythmes. They were known for that too. Also a small glass of red wine helps too in addition to olive oil.
Φάρμακο είναι όντως. Τι ποικιλία έχεις;
Different types ... mostly athinolia, but also acebuches and one kalamon tree :)
Sounds about right. Do you stay in Icaria?
No but i have bern there many times. Unfortunately the slow rythmes they had, have gone more or less now. Tourism affected that too.
Ahh, that's a pity to hear. But there are some islands left that are determined to preserve that rhythm 🌿 Are you Greek à la base?
Not to this extend. For example if you went to a taverna and ordered something, it would be not rare to be served after 4 hours or so, because the people there might want to do something else meanwhile 😀. So you made your order, you did somrthing else meanwhile and at some point you were served 😀. There was a known bakery, where the owner was making the bread and then he was leaving the bakery to take care of jis sheeps and goats. If you wanted bread, you entered the bakery, took the bread you wanted and left the payment in a certain place. That is how it was operating 😀. All this destroyed by tourism etc.
And i am greek. I live in Epirus
Ahh, I see. Lovely!!
Teilia!! Great to see Greeks on Nostr here 💪🏼
Wow this is very interesting, like async remote work, or async programming. This is very cool, and I assume that of course they will trust you to come back and pay at some point and not go to other place to eat. I love it
It really still is like that in some rural regions of Greece. It's so soothing and heartwarming to experience. Trust and faith in the decency of people is alive. May we make sure it remains.
