Imagine hating on L3 when non-custodial LN is utterly still broken.

Broken? For whom?
My zap says otherwise.
Also, that is a perfect reason to say L3 is a bad idea. If the predicate is not working why build more on top of it.
"Yeah my framing is falling apart but I want to add another floor to my house" probably not a smart move.
Agree. My shit is working
Same
Nope, people don't hate L3.
People just hate gay Calle's Cashu. Why people don't dunk on Fedimit as much as gay Calle's Cashu.
READ THE ROOM.
STOP FUDNING INCOMPETENT AND/OR ARROGANT DEVS.
Idk self custody LN isnβt really that hard, especially if you include services like nostr:nprofile1qqsyv47lazt9h6ycp2fsw270khje5egjgsrdkrupjg27u796g7f5k0spremhxue69uhkummnw3ez6ur4vgh8wetvd3hhyer9wghxuet59uq3camnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3dxyhxucn09eskuempde5jucm09u3etlxd
Works pretty much perfectly except that they donβt notify you if your node needs to be updated and they donβt do it automatically because you have to stop the node to update it
But why are fucking with layer 3 when layer 2 isnβt finished I donβt understand

Bro cβmonβ¦ Think like a much lazier and careless sample of non-custodial LNβs target audience.
Realistically, it needs to be much easier to use and maintain.
Good comment section πΏ
i don't hate em, i build em

I tried to read the room, but I think the initial conversation took place in a different room. Which L3 was being referenced? Took me a second, but I think I finally got what you're saying. Gotta have a firm foundation to build on.
Non-custodial LN has worked pretty smooth for me. π€ Node, Zeus, VPS to Clearnet. Is anyone working on lightning still?
btw, I miss that technical nap time podcast. It's why I don't know the answer to the question above btw.
I don't care about lazy people. They are going to starve in the coming fiat collapse. This is like saying:
"Diet and Exercise are too much for the average lazy person."
Okay, then die of congestive heart failure.
Custodial Lightning is the Ozempic of Bitcoin.
They also close your lightning channels and you lose funds. So much fun to be had....
My only complaint is that I can no longer sign in without retrieving the one time code from my email, so if I lose access to that email account, I lose access to Alby hub. There should probably be an option to have a backup email address or something.
Itβs not at all accessible to the average person. And even for the average Bitcoiner itβs not clear that the trade-offs make it an attractive choice.
Iβm using Alby hub for some time already and itβs fairly easy. More people should try it!
The browser is the last place to do what they do.
Pretend people older than 50 dont exist. We can improve it a lot though. It should be more like Breez
Im sure they have something in place for when ppl lose access. And besides, you have the seed phrases anyway
You shouldnβt lose funds. Funds should return to the onchain wallet.
What do you suggest?
Some did.
Good point. Can you add it to our feedback board? https://feedback.getalby.com/-alby-accounts-request-a-feature-1
You do not lose funds if a lightning channel is closed. These funds in that channel are going back to your on-chain balance.
Please contact us and we can check the reason of the channel closure. support.getalby.com
Done.
Are you sure you fully understood the agreement you entered into? If you open a channel, you have to pay closure fees when it closes.
I assume closure fees could be as much as tens of thousands of sats depending on the balance.
A10ksat fee would not surprise me.
It is less the balance that matters but the current on-chain fees that determine the cost of closing the channel. And these fees are very, very low at the moment.
Perhaps if there is a force closure of someone's lightning channel you could auto send the client a breakdown of what happened and clarity on the funds flow/fees etc. It's a shitty end user experience and undermines trust (understanding the closure might not be Alby's fault etc). I have zero idea why my channel would just cease to exist but I'm not keen to open a new one with Alby until I understand the why if it.
