I have a win to report. Effective immediately after last night's meeting, the town turned off 19/23 of these cameras! I spoke, but it was the eloquence of others as well as the new board of Trustees that were the MVPs The 4 cameras that stayed active are at places like the water treatment plant and water storage. While more work needs to happen to get this type of camera out of the town for good, it was good progress. The town must provide a cost estimate to switch to a closed loop system I speak at 4:09:32 It was a LOOOONG meeting https://t.co/40qre1ekZB

My small town with absolutely minimal crime put up AI surveillance cameras. Tonight is the second town council meeting about them. The last one was intense afaik. I think I'm gonna go. Any advice?

Way to give a shit. Good job!
Very happy for you, congratulations! Yesterday we had a town council meeting, the objectors were mostly ignored (not cameras yet privacy is a major part of it). I live in a place with high crime rate, there are cameras everywhere - your remarks are all on points.

My favorite part was how many times she had to tell people to stop clapping 😂

I went to my commission about banning these. Their initial comments were "we don't know anything about this , let us research and get back to you". The next time I brought it up their response was "we don't use them, it's the municipality". Then when I came back because the sheriff told me, yes they were using them they just said they aren't interested in banning them and I don't have $11k to get an issue on the ballot. Good on you mate!
