⚡🇺🇸 NEW - TikTokers are flocking to a new platform after pro-Israel Larry Ellison took over the app. The move follows TikTok’s announcement of a deal to create a new US entity, giving Ellison the power to shape an anti-Palestinian agenda. The app has already climbed to 13th place on the US Play Store with hundreds of thousands of downloads in just a few days. Nostr has once again missed an opportunity to shine on the international stage with this rejection by young people of this takeover of TikTok.

As it exists now, Nostr is way too complicated and way too buggy for it to be mainstream. No way could you ever convince the average tiktoker to use this

Tbh, I like the calm environment here. Too many normies would destroy this atmosphere, and they wouldn’t understand the real reason behind Nostr. That’s why they always switch to centralized alternatives. They don’t even move to the Fediverse. Most of them switch to Bluesky, which is still very centralized. Of course, we should onboard way more people, but what really matters is quality over quantity.
The world runs on a flawed measure, fiat money. What could keep going wrong?
I agree with both of you. On one hand, look at what happened to Bitcoin plebs and communities when it became mainstream. On the other hand, Nostr is still too glitchy and niche of a niche to become even remotely popular and successful at this moment, but I love it anyway..
everything in its time, divine will soon be released for Android, right now it is not like everyone knows about the existence of 'nostr' and many are already very used to continuing to use emails, telling them about private keys, relays and bloossom's is like show them something that is unknown to most
I've been on Nostr for 400 days now, and I still don't know what a bloossom is 😅, but I don't want to know, I don't need to.
Upscrolled feels like a nostr client. Just better discovery and more people using it. I made an account just to purple pill. Spoken to the founder, telling him to implement the nostr protocol into their platform. He said "thanks, we'll look into it" 🤞 If we can convince alternative social media platforms to implement nostr protocol it's beneficial to everyone involved.
I feel this will be a positive gateway to Nostr in the long run. A pivotal moment here to reassess the game plan and get back to the drawing board.
