Sometimes tradfi people tell me that bitcoin is "captured" now that there are ETFs and such. When that happens, I usually tell them to give me a lightning address and I'll send them some anon sats. None of them has ever taken me up on that offer. I gave this dude an opportunity for 1,234,567 sats or like $700 and he went dark. I don't think they know how to use wallets. They are only think-bois. image

Omg, I would be happy with a much smaller zap lol...I can't believe that person was not able to install some ln wallet and make an invoice. But it's the same reaction I observe from people when I talk about ln.
True, but regular people stay lazy because of all those custodial products like ETFs and similar options. They never find out about second layer solutions.

He probably didn't think it was worth it because according to everhthing I see online bitcoin has such high transaction fees he would have only actually recieved about $2.

sadly Ben is like 90% of society, willfully ignorant to the point where they won't even accept free money because of whatever bias they have about BTC.
So did someone get the sats? You can send to my lightning wallet and I'll share them all with members here on nostr. onpoint@strike.me ;o)
the thing with epislon theory is he has a point; but the point is only relevant for the Bitcoin that wall street own: even if they held 90% of it the promise of Bitcoin could be delivered by the 10% they did not
"Captured" can mean many things. For example the gold price is captured because the "spot" gold price has nothing to do with spot, it is a paper gold price and is the nearest month derivative price. If you can print unlimited fiat to sell short unlimited (often naked) derivatives then you have captured the price. You can spoof volumes and costs by using off chain trades that may or may not be settled on chain later. Wall st is a spoofing machine and a fractioning of assets(reserves) machine. Its practically all they do. Which is why I am no fan of ETFs and other financial products based on bitcoin. But they will always exist so we need to get used to that.
Ben Hunt is a poor man's Taleb. Said all the right things, and then when the solution was presented, couldn't deal with the fact that he hadn’t thought of it. Also both went crazy during the covid psyop, Taleb, more than Hunt, but Hunt too.
Such a large invoice was a risk! They could have proven their point! There is an issue with that size of an invoice where if the right invoice from the right lightning wallet(alby?) was issued it couldn’t have been paid. When bitcoin rocks was paying out million sat zap grand prize winnings they wound up needing to break the payments into 500k sat chunks to make sure it would get to everyone who won depending on their lightning wallets. Not to mention if they had posted a self hosted address and there wasnt enough liquidity in the path. Risky!
The issue you mentioned might be simply a limit on our legacy Accounts. We can't process ANY amount of sats... but you can, with Alby Hub there is no limits other than channel liquidities ;)

Bitcoin is captured oooooo change my mind
The worst decision I have made on twitter is quite some time was to chime in on a Lyn thread. Learned my lesson. .ETHs are disingenuous asshats.
I'm still processing how Gangsta you are recently. You keep firing shots with these drive bys

It’s captured if you’re lazy. It blows my mind how people think this is it, technology keeps moving and fast. The tools we have today are like dialup compared to what will be built atop Bitcoin in the next 10 years. There WILL be robust privacy tools and fast scalable layer 3 solutions at the very LEAST!
