The Codex Vaticanus is one of the oldest and most important surviving manuscripts of the Greek Bible. Dating back to the 4th century (around 325 AD), it has been safely housed in the Vatican Library since at least 1475.
Fun fucts:
Three columns per page: Unlike most standard books, the original text was meticulously written in a strict, continuous three-column format per page, without spaces between words or capital letters.
It was retraced by hand: In the 10th or 11th century, the original ink began to fade. An anonymous scribe meticulously traced over every single letter with a pen to preserve the text, occasionally leaving out words or altering verses.
