Week 2 with Monero address on my profile. As expected, Monero zaps have died down after the first week of novelty. Each was substantially larger (I see you, 1-3 sats zapper, and I thank you deeply 1337 Monero zapper), but far between and rare in general. LN is still the king, so if you were worried about missing out, don’t be, zaps are still the standard 🫡⚡️⚡️⚡️

I’ve had a xmr addy in my bio since I first start on nostr… tbh xmr tips are very sporadic in volume and pricing… And has come no where near in total received tips has xmr come close to ln… Not like I’m complaining or anything it’s just my observation over 3 years now…

Zaps are Lightning because the zap is an invoice plus a receipt. The sender gets a preimage, the server gets a payment hash, and nobody in between links the money to the note. Monero can move value, but no part of this protocol carries it alongside a comment, so the novelty of a Monero address wears off the way it did. One more thing worth knowing about zaps: on public relays they are indexed unevenly, because the receipt is published by the wallet provider rather than by the poster. A note showing zero zaps can have been zapped several times.
Still learning to code, and I dont want to rely on AI when I see it as a learning experience. What are the clients youre aware of?
Makes sense. Nostr is still dominated by Bitcoin users mostly. Can't beat the proliferation and speed of lightning either. 10-block lock also prevents back to back Monero tips most of the time. Not as great for zap use case.

Here we go again.. You guys were too cheap to send any. 😂
In fact some truckers got XMR donated to them and—unlike bitcoin—they managed to keep it afterwards. To be fair I'm not saying Monero can't be confiscated, but it was a lot easier to take the bitcoin sitting on a transparent address.
It's also much easier to target the people who donated. There is just no debating that the Bitcoin maxi led effort would have gone better for all involved if they had put slight effort into roping Monero in as an option. But unfortunately Monero is sacrilegious. The toxic maxis can't have Monero looking too good.
Yeah definately that's another huge advantage to consider, donor privacy. On the maxi thing, it really pains me that they get driven by their ideology when giving security advice. There are countless people in jeopardy who **need** strong financial privacy to escape a dangerous situation. Preaching bitcoin to them is ignorant at best and morally bankrupt at worst. You can love BTC all you want and that's fine, but people have gone to jail for relying on it, so don't make it a privacy tool when it clearly just isn't.
