My daughter, who just finished college and landed a job five minutes from home two weeks out of school is also on the local volunteer fire department. I encouraged her to get in there as a junior three years ago, as it was one of the best things I ever did as a young person. We were just getting ready for dinner a few hours ago, and she got a call for a structure fire. She just texted me. Not only was she first in to the building on full SCBA, but she encountered a cat that had been overcome by smoke in the blaze. No people were in the building, fortunately. She brought the cat outside and performed CPR on it, only for it to pass away. They are just cleaning up hose and debriefing at the station right now. Can’t wait to give her a big hug. image

She’s on a good path. A little early success is encouraging.
Awwww, such a good girl, you did something very right raising that one!
I’m a firefighter. I went out on a call today. After we were done at the scene I got in the engine to head back to the station and my wife had sent me a text asking me to stop at the store and pick up a few things on my way home. 🤣 I guess she’s used to it.

Yeah those e-bike and electric car batteries present a serious new challenge for firefighters.

Bad one this morning. Semi rollover fatality.
Good for her! My dad served on our little town's volunteer fire department too, when I was a kid.

Do you know what cops and firefighters have in common? They both want to be firefighters.
