Yes its a new feature where it automatically detects the ones it needs to use. I assume its the relays of your followers so they can see your stuff well.

Im sure theyre working on optimization now, it's awesome that we we'll never again see "event loading or not in your relay list" but it's definitely slower and less stable.

That's how nostr is supposed to work. The app is connecting to all relays that the people you follow are posting to so you don't miss anything.
If you don't like it because it lags to much add a proxy relay and it will just use that instead.

You do have a choice. Two choices actually. Either add proxy relays or downgrade the app. And nothing tells you that the proxy relays can't just be your old ones.
You can add relays to the proxy relay list in your relay settings if you want to just read from them. But fixed lists are terrible. People were always missing shit. This is way better.
Still curious though, what does that pull in? Full on global feed or is this only for their messages and comments?

Thats a dumb comparison. The problem with fb/twitter is single source of data, nostr fixes that exact issue with MANY relays. Now amethyst is using MANY relays you got the shits?

Nostur does have some similar think I’m using. But I can see the scenario where users want to turn it off.

It's not really the same thing. There is no point in deactivating outbox. You can add proxy relays, but those relays need to do the outbox for you. Otherwise you will be missing lots of posts.

Correct. But we do connect to those when reading replies of those you don't follow because those relays will have all the likes, zaps etc of that reply.
Sounds great. Theres two potential issues with the concept which is curation and performance. With proxies as an option that solves performance, and since our own settings are respected that fixes curation so its well thought trough.
Now the main thing is caching, nothing is cached so everytime I open the app my feed loads blank and my spammer list is empty again. Would be nice if it had a cache so that I am not loading in the missing stuff every time.
If I have no choice, it is not decentralized. Its a dev controlling my app. And thats fine. I wont be using it ever again . That is my choice that no sellout dev can take away

You need to disable the trafick of the links and pictures through tor and get the pictures and the links only through VPN.

Those aren't "your" relays. Your relay list is still the same. They didn't force anything... No one can force anyone to change anything on nostr. You would need your private key to make that change. This change is to facilitate full outbox. Which is how nostr is SUPPOSED to work. The only reason there's a bunch of relays you see is those are relays in the list of relays of the people you follow. Now when looking for a note, your client can look for your follows content in their relays.

You're not connecting to 400 relays all at once. You have a pool of 400 relays. Your anger is misallocated because you don't understand what's actually happening. When you post, you are still only posting to your relays in your list. Which is only a few.

Its an option, you are not writing to that all relay, you are only rigthing in the ones you want, but you read from all relays the guys you follow make, this makes sure that you dont miss anything if your relays collude to sensor someone.
