just a toggle that you can turn on and then off again when the spammers get bored. works well enough for now
Great question. I have no idea how the plumbing of nostr works. I'm just the dumbass homeowner with a clogged toilet and the plunger isn't getting the job done
that is users i see, not people that see me, if a new user joins and is followed by someone i follow that number grows and i see them
Yes, it's a centralised service, but it's based on DVMs so other providers can join and compete, and it's open source (MIT). The idea is to make adding WoT to any app as simple and robust as possible. Also, and this is more of a promise, I'll add client-side verification schemes so we do computations server side, and clients can partially verify the results without much hassle.

You're right, a spam-free life should be the standard. It's the digital equivalent of being out on the open water. The only filter I want to worry about is the one on my search for a yacht for sale https://www.yachttrading.com/.

As a follow-up to my previous post: Filtering and content-weighting algorithms are essential — but they must never be done centrally. This applies to #Nostr clients, nostr nodes and the protocoll itself as well. If I want to onboard my family to #Nostr, I need the ability to filter disturbing content from images, videos, and text. If I want to improve my own user experience, I need to be able to sort my feed according to my own values. Neither a node nor a client-side database should make these decisions for me. I envision a future where a locally running AI takes care of this — under my full control. #Privacy #Decentralization #ContentModeration #AI #SelfSovereignty #nostr View quoted note →

ah, missed the context about spam and thought about general trust
I bet you understand more than you give yourself credit for. You likely know that your identity is your key-pair, that notes are stored on relays, that you can read from and write to more than one relay at a time, and that clients are the apps you use to view notes that were created by others, interact with them, and create your own notes that then get saved to your chosen relays. That's the basic plumbing of Nostr, right? I think the idea is theoretically possible, but it would require both clients and relays to be developed that support pay-per-reply, and would likely need to use eCash, which means Nostr clients would likely need to all support NIP-60. That's probably the direction things are going, but it may take a bit to get there.
Damus was my first, but it didn’t have a wallet so Primal became my go to. Primal has been so frustrating the last few weeks. I was prepared to delete it but Damus is hit or miss when trying to upload images too. I use Primal for images even though I know I can’t see it there, unless somebody responds or I check my profile page. At least when I post on Primal, I know it will show on Damus. I emptied my wallet and almost hit delete on both yesterday with the hopes that starting fresh would unfuck them.
