Yea i got an invite last night. So far it seems to work great. It lets you switch between the custodial wallet and the self-custody wallet within the app. In the US, though, the receive page only works with the self-custody wallet, and your custom lightning address stays with the custodial wallet. Hopefully they change that. But the wallet itself seems to be working fine.
Yea, and the key with any of these wallets is to only keep pocket money amounts on them. Even plain old self-custody lightning where you open a channel to someone, you shouldn’t be keeping large sums of money in them. But for spending amounts, a reasonable amount of cautious risk is ok.
No, it was super easy. If you were already logged into the custodial wallet, then in the app settings there’s an option to switch to self-custody mode. Otherwise it just starts you in self-custody mode. You choose to create new wallet or restore existing one. The new wallet took all of a few seconds to load, and then you can write down your backup phrase and you’re good to go.
After asking, I saw your response to someone else that the self custody wallet doesn’t allow for the custom address. I’m still running an old version of the custodial WOS. I’m assuming this will be an updated version from the version I have now. I can’t even find the version number in my app.
It lets you switch back and forth between the custodial wallet and self-custody wallet. The custom address stays associated with the custodial wallet and you get a randomized address for the self-custody one. If you decide to try it, just make sure you still have the email address associated with your custodial wallet in case you need to recover it, but when I updated to the TestFlight it kept me logged in and I’ve switched back and forth between custody and self-custody wallets with no issues so far. image
