GM It’s hard to explain what it feels like when NOSTR actually clicks. There's a moment when it stops being just Bitcoin virtue signaling and becomes something real. You notice your need for social media fading. Because this actually feels like a tool. And more than that, a solution. There’s a kind of peace that comes from using something open source. It reminds me of when we believed the U.S. were the good guys. Like checking in on a positive news story in the paper fifty years ago. Open source protocols are the good guys now. And here’s the surprise: Bitcoin works. It works exactly how we hoped it would. Using Bitcoin on NOSTR feels like a nonlinear return on your time—like you’re actually moving toward a real solution to most of what’s broken in the world. NOSTR is also where the most honest questions get asked. And where a calm, focused group of people work through them—because they have real skin in the game. You don’t need to rage-consume NOSTR. You feel better stepping away. Because what’s happening here actually makes you want to think more clearly.

The wildest experience is disagreeing with someone here and then having a relatively polite discussion around the issue. Like, I didn’t think that was possible on the internet until now lol. (not 100% success rate, but has happened to me more than I expect here and I feel has allowed me to let my guard down… which is encouraging more free speech actually- whoa)

Part of that is being early, but in excited to see where it leads. The permanence seems to lead to politeness

Can't wait for more people to come join us
Yeah it’s hard to tell what it is, I hope it sticks… Many people here have the BTC / freedom tech common ground. Then yeah- there’s the fact that you can’t effectively delete- which is pro social IMO

I think that's an absolutely major feature
It’s hard to steel man an opposing argument. It’s hard to be kind. It’s hard to be yourself. It’s hard to adjust to zero virtual signaling validation (likes to zaps). It’s hard to think and be solution oriented. NOSTR showcases all of these challenging dynamics towards the positive side of them.
So true. Once something has been said, it can no longer be unspoken. So nostr is much more like the meatspace as any other social media.
Using nostr made me realize how much the "other" "asocial media" is designed to be addictive. I only really understood it when I stopped using twixxer every day. I really understood how much it all triggered me. And how liberating Nostr is in contrast. Sure, it's far from perfect, but hey, life itself is never perfect 🤓
