I had a realization recently that my next business venture will be something that harnesses the natural abundance of the Earth itself. I was watching a video on bio char which is quite interesting, but just imagining how I would feel to have a business that is profitable that also benefits Mother Nature… really sounds like the move.

I’ve been slacking on #40hpw this year. There aren’t enough @Bugle.News #40HPW🎧 and @Rock Paper Bitcoin episodes, so I’ve had to resort to silence. I’ve actually learned a lot by just creating the space to think. Podcasts and learning continuously is great, but I’ve found it’s just as important, especially if you want to actually CREATE something, to make time for silence.

Checking out the new Judkins park campground. This is a popular bike path and very close to a kids playground.

Most bitcoin conferences are struggling with attendance. It’s partly because it’s a bear market, partly due to interest in AI, but I would argue if you’re a builder now is the absolute best time to go to a conference. The people who show up during bear markets are the true builders. The ones who are in it for more than just the financial gains. So far this year, I’ve been to @BitcoinMedellin , @BTC Prague , two @My First Bitcoin unconferences, @BITCOIN is for EVERYONE (May 22-23, 2026) , @Camp Nakamoto (my favorite event, hardly a conference) and @Bitcoin Magazine Vegas. Unfortunately I will miss a great one in Vancouver next month: @learningbitcoinfdn But I will be in Surabaya, Indonesia for the My First Bitcoin unconference and Bitcoin Asia in Hong Kong. Make sure to reach out and say hello if you’ll be at either of these in August.

I just saw a bear in my local trail system for the first time. I’ve gone riding and running here several times a week for the last five years. I was peddling when I heard some rustling in the bushes and up on the hillside above me there were two bears. One was a cub, and the other one I didn’t actually see but definitely heard it. I was a safe distance away and was able to observe the cub for a few minutes before they noticed me and went the other direction. What an absolute blessing and way to end the week. image

You can run a bitcoin full node on a cheap raspberry pi with a 2TB external SSD. It seems like a lot of people don’t know this.

Started the day by sleeping through my alarm and showing up half an hour late to an important meeting. So in order to turn things around I just sat in 42 degree water for 2 minutes. Rough start but we’re back.

Finding contradictions within ourselves- in our actions and thoughts, is just part of life. Aligning actions and values is an ongoing dance.

"The few who understand the system, will either be so interested in its profits or be so dependent upon its favours that there will be no opposition from that class, while on the other hand, the great body of people, mentally incapable of comprehending the tremendous advantage that capital derives from the system, will bear its burdens without complaint, and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical to their interests." -The Rothschild brothers of London writing to associates in New York, 1863.

If you’re bullish on bitcoin, use it. Apathy is the biggest hurdle bitcoin faces. If you aren’t going to use it, who will?

Pain is a signal to heal. If you cover up the pain, you will not heal. Pretty simple and obvious, but in practice, very difficult to implement.
