when i look at the world through my phone, everything appears to be collapsing
when i actually just go outside and live life, everything is great, food is cheap, streets are clean, never run into any crime
so which one is it?

Location, location, location.
Both. Unfortunately the things you see on x are real and they are happening, but life is also beautiful and most people are kind/decent humans.
where are you living π
X is a ragebait trap, go outside, touch grass, stack sats and nostr
It's unfortunate that the vocal minority tends to outshine the majority
I feel like the online feeds represent the absolute extremes of everything. They have to be in order to make it through the noise and the dross of the mundane.
So what your feed ends up showing you is the worst of the worst events that are happening. They're just the pockets not the whole suit.
That's how I see it anyways.
Where you getting cheap food ? ππ
Must be eating fiat crap. My local fractional cow person is up 63% in a year.
where do you live where food is cheap and the streets are clean and there isn't crime?
central ontario
i eat ribeyes pretty much everyday.. they cost $18 CAD here (about $13 USD)
it's hard to find places without extreme poverty and widespread crime these days... God bless...
is it really though or has your phone just psyop'd you into believing that?
The closer you get to the big city, the worst it gets. I'm on the edge of the city and we're thinking of pulling away further. It's little things that are noticeably getting worse.
We never locked our doors, now we have to. Garages being broken in is on the rise. More garbage being left out in parks. Grocery stores are getting dirtier with food on the ground because people don't care.
Take me down to the Paradise City
Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty
Canada is Citadel Country (or we will meme it into being true)

I live in a green area on the crime heat-map so I donβt really see the crime either, but there are definitely some areas I used to live in which have gotten worse.
What the fuck, ribeyes are $25-30 (USD) per lb depending on if I get grass fed or not where Iβm at. Consider yourself lucky
The world inside your phone is a business model. The world outside your door is your life. One profits from your anxiety, the other thrives on your presence.
Do you both think that this is because people feel more comfortable to share their struggles online vs in person?
No I think itβs because thing can be happening nationally or globally but not locally
my surroundings say otherwise.. also most people i know from real life and that are in very different places around the world can't say they live in places with clean streets (cheap food is always relative to how much you can afford and if you have cheap access or not real food)
also believe it or not i don't spend much time online so i guess my reality is very far from what i see or can see online (as much as that can be true)....
NEVER DOOM

Everything is a lot calmer in physical reality
Less doom
Less anger
Less fear
Less worries
Spending time away from the digital sphere is crucial

The key is in oneβs own perception
Covid was such a litmus test that exposed this reality to me. Phone = zoo animals have covid and need anal swabs. Reality = animals dgaf nature doing natural things.
To answer your question: everything appears to be collapsing.
Related: it sounds like you might live in a sheltered bubble
If we use open source tools....?
I assume a little from both and that it's dependant upon where you live.
the reality might be weirder than that. you grow what you watch/think ..

I was thinking about your note over the last 24 hours.
It helped me realize that humans are both Centralized around cities AND also Decentralized across the globe, BUT humans are more Decentralized than they are Centralized.
We are very close to being able to survive a meteor strike in orbit. Well... a few of us anyway!
