How do we buy music to download these days?
We used buy cds and burn them, what services exist now?
I want to break up with streaming services.

Backing up Spotify
We backed up Spotify (metadata and music files). It’s distributed in bulk torrents (~300TB). It’s the world’s first “preservation archive...
Bandcamp is the one that currently works well for many musicians.
There’s also Mirlo.space and Jam.Coop
Bandcamp has gone through some buyouts recently and there’s a fear they’re gonna enshitify but as of now musicians are getting paid and there’s a decent amount of music there, most indies have a presence there.
When I have the time my plan is to digitize records and cds I own to mp3 and perhaps stream to my devices with @Umbrel ☂️ or equivalent
Grab yourself whatever you need via your favourite pirate ship. If you want to support the artist go and buy the track via iTunes or a physical CD
Bandcamp to support independents.
For everything else …Torrents 🏴☠️
Vinyl 🤓
Would be cool. I don’t think I can rip them into digital form. 😂
exactly what I want to do. put all my purchases on a jellyfin.
