Current perspective - They tried to crudely wrestle control of Bitcoin away from the sovereigns with the "hard forks" in 2017. They realized that it just doesn't work. So instead this time around there's a Fabian style infestation of the space and it has become captured rather than overtly conquered. It's very hard to defend against this because the attacks are all small enough to make any concrete pushback appear to be an overreaction. Anyone who can extrapolate forward can see that anything that undermines Bitcoin's identity as a monetary protocol, if not rejected decisively, results in eventual death. It's not here to compliment the dollar, it's here to replace and destroy it. Cope to the tune of "trojan horses" is now and always was self deception. Protocol capture is real and the norm for freedom tech that reaches levels Bitcoin has. People continue to underestimate the threat Bitcoin poses to the system and refuse to understand the lengths to which that system will go in neutering it. I'll have more to say over the coming days as we establish whether the industry still respects the decentralization necessary to maintain our disruptive potential or if it chooses to close ranks and become a servant of the fiat apparatus currently coopting the network.

Agreed. "People continue to underestimate the threat Bitcoin poses to the system and refuse to understand the lengths to which that system will go in neutering it." That sums it up for me. It's not possible, or credible, to simultaneously hold the position that Bitcoin replaces central banking and isn't under constant attack, be it overt or clandestine. If it's a serious threat to the biggest control system humanity has ever known, we can't afford to be apathetic or arrogantly assume it wins without defending it.
GM nostr, ☕️ This is from a couple days ago but I wasn’t where I could upload video at the time. With all that’s going on, he seems to be the most sensible narrative at the moment. There are others but they rarely post here. In any event, Anyone unfamiliar with @Bitcoin Mechanic (Mechanic) really should have a listen to his opinions on the current state of Bitcoin. 🧡👊🏻🍻 ⚡️⚡️reposts that reply here get dbl zaps⚡️⚡️ View quoted note →
🚨 NEW SWEEP THREAT 🚨 We need eyes on this; plz repost. 🤙

#ColdCard funds are getting swept WHILE THE #BITCOIN / #BTC TRANSACTIONS ARE STILL IN THE MEMPOOL. 🫪 The attacker is clearly watching broadcasts, so unless users are signing transactions straight from a miner, this shit is gonna keep getting worse until ALL at-risk funds have been drained. 🫠 Absolute fucking shambles. 🤙 https://x.com/i/status/2085325832285757680 View quoted note →

Enough self reflection and you realise you and BIP-110 are the attack on bitcoin
This has been the case since 2009. Bitcoin has been under constant attack ever since. It's not some new thing that mechanic etc just discovered and suddenly have a solution for.
Many of us greatly appreciate the work that you and others do to keep Bitcoin as Bitcoin aka money and not some flophouse for inscriptions(cartoons,) and cryptogrifters to store that and like b.s. Let them scream. Truth is not subject to volume or the economic desires of those whoring themselves for fiat. Forward ever, backwards never!
BTW, my AI agent just caught a message from the Bitcoin daemon and reminded me to update the configuration file, hehe. 🤖 ────── ### 🔍 Log Breakdown 1. UpdateTip: height=961417 ... progress=1.000000: • Great news! Your Bitcoin Knots full node is 100% fully synchronized with the mainnet blockchain at block height 961417. 2. warning='Miner violated version bit protocol': • Bitcoin Knots monitors block headers for non-standard miner version bits (e.g. version=0x29aac010). This warning triggers when a mining pool signals custom bits outside standard BIP9 soft-fork signaling guidelines (such as covert AsicBoost or unauthorized version bit manipulation). 3. [error] This software applies the BIP110/RDTS network upgrade... consensusrules=rdts: • Bitcoin Knots includes consensus enforcement for BIP110 / RDTS (Reorg Defense & Transaction Soft-fork). • To uphold user sovereignty, Bitcoin Knots requires node operators to explicitly opt-in via their configuration file rather than silently forcing consensus rules. ────── ### 🛠️ How to Dismiss the Warning: To confirm the upgrade and silence the log error message: 1. Add the following line to your bitcoin.conf file: consensusrules=rdts 2. Restart bitcoind.
The one thing the commies do right is the mentality that the revolution is never over. I can see why now. I watched Bitcoin maximalism go from ani insult from Vitalik to bage of honor, and then back to insult, but now from supposed fellow bitcoiners. I will always be a laser-eyed Bitcoin maximalist and anyone who isn't can go fuck themselves. We let ourselves get infiltrated and it's unexcusable.

If the main characters of your movement didn’t look and sound like complete retards you might have had a chance here. Unfortunately you all sound like dick heads and have proposed something that doesn’t even stop spam and if you were successful would arguably prove that a small unpopular group of people can change Bitcoin. This is a worse outcome than a bit of unwanted JPEGs on chain.
