Most people never accepted that trusted third parties are security holes?
That’s what we’re here for… to remove the risk of that for them in an automated way. Why abandon course for a shortcut? ⛵️
Shitcoiners compromise on their values for shortcut solutions with horrible trade-offs.
It really depends on who you mean by "That's what *we're* here for". You, me, and self custody maxis are probably a very small group of people. I don't know of any other person who uses their own lightning node for zapping other than myself and a small set of very technical people.
If we're talking about sending and receiving small amounts of nostr, I think a large portion of the population would be ok with custodians for those.
We're not talking about storing your life savings on nostr or custodial lightning nodes. onchain is always there when you want to do that.
I think the confusion is trying to compare different use cases, I don't think there is any scenario where anyone should recommend storing their onchain bitcoin with a custodian.
It's not so obvious in the "small amount you goof around with on nostr" case.
the movers & shakers though?
I suppose having multiple options is fine so you can choose the level of trust-minimization you desire, but calling it sats instead or ecash feels wrong/posing — like bcash vibes.
funny thing is “bitcoin cash” would be a decent name for it 😆. zap cash? Lightning IOUs?
Ecash Zaps is plenty clear and sounds quite cool.
Should i still do if i use decentralized exchanges?
include Strike wallet in that prohibition. Do not even store $100 there for zapping. 100% unsecure.
Is there decentralized bitcoin exchanges or are you just keeping them in less secure and more centralized protocol?
hodl hodl, robosats and bisq are all decentralized exchange... just hot wallets unfortunatly
I figured out you was mayby meaning something like robosats, not like having "bitcoin" in other protocol locked up with smart contracts or something (having it on that whatever exchange) 😄
Which custodial wallet is the best for storage @npub18kzj...v0xq
💜🧡
In theory I agree. But my thought is if you would risk carrying $100 cash in your pocket/wallet you can probably handle the risk of $100 on Strike
Having a Bitcoin balance on an exchange (see: withdrawal limits) is no different than holding shitcoins 🙂↔️
Run a node and verify that you own what you think you own ... on your own
Low probability of getting mugged in the circles I move in. Strike is 100% unsecure.
Or suffer the consequences once again and again and again
None.

Amen to that!! 🙏🙏

This is the way!
it was a busy day of fun helping friends put everything down cold. you can see the excitement in their eyes with every transaction. great time to show them why it is very important to take your piece of pizza with you and store it safely in the freezer. If you have Bitcoin on an exchange, don't wait. take action!! Bla bla self-spot Custody. 🫂🍕🫡🔐🧡
Sound amazing!
But then it’s pretty hard to live on a bitcoin standard. It seems impossible to pay all your bills in bitcoin without an intermediary since barely anywhere accepts bitcoin. The majority of my BTC is on cold wallets but I do keep a bit on strike to pay bills and dca my paycheck.
