The cannabis is absolutely thriving in the rabbit colony cannabis garden image This year I only used fertility from within the rabbit colony to grow the cannabis. In the past, I've applied multiple feedings of composted horse manure processed by our chickens to grow the plants. image While the only time I water the plants in general is for a day or two after transplanting, the weather has been excellent this year for growing cannabis. Rain every few days with very mild heat waves. image Some of the plants are growing nearly as well as the season which I tried really hard to grow massive plants. Except this year, I've hardly tried at all. I attribute the success once again to the weather as well as a few years of building the soil in the garden thanks to the rabbits. The tallest plant, White Widow x Redbud Haze, is over 10ft tall. image This season I couldn't decide between two nice male expressions of Redbud Haze to pollinate the garden. I will be using both, one has already dropped pollen and been fed to the rabbits. The other is getting ready to open it's pollen sacks soon, so the seeds won't be totally random on the buds. The deeper seeds are more likely the earlier expression and the outer seeds should be the later. Since the second male has been growing all season it is giant. It should be a nice meal for the rabbits too. Speaking of meals for the rabbits, I recently pruned the large White Widow because it was growing into the plant next to it. Those prunings went straight to the rabbits. Honestly, I never could have imagined a world in which I'm happily feeding female cannabis to animals. All in all, I'm very happy with how the season is going for both the cannabis and the rabbits. I was recently on the Survival Podcast (link below) with @jackspirko talking mostly about the rabbits in the system. I will be bringing the monthly permaculture live stream back from hiatus on Wednesday September 4th at 8pm to discuss how I use permaculture to grow the cannabis and all the techniques involved from start to finish. Cannabis thriving in the rabbit colony cannabis garden with minimal effort image The cannabis was transplanted in the rabbit colony on May 13th. I chose to plant high on the slope closer together this season. After a few years of observation, I think this area gets the best sun exposure so the plants grow best here. image To start this season, I dug soil from the low area of the rabbit colony to fertilize the cannabis. Any excess nutrients have been caught in this area. So far, I've only watered once right after transplanting, thanks the soil rich in organic matter and the wood chip/straw mulch. image The ladybugs showed up almost immediately and are doing their work to keep the pest pressure on the plants in check. image The plants are in the ground 10 days earlier than last season and are all looking healthy. I've been able to determine the sex on them and have started to pull the males to feed to the rabbits. I have selected one male which I will keep and let it drop pollen for a few days before removing it so the plants can produce seed, which is the main yield I'm looking for. image I'm looking forward to see how big I can get the cannabis to grow this season. I will be feeding chicken composted horse manure after replacing all the males with more female plants in the next week or so. #permaculture #permies #homesteading #meshtadel #cannabis #weedstr #grownosr #marijuana #rabbitcolony More details about how I grow the cannabis from 2023 View quoted note → View quoted note →

I also love that the new Fountain Nostr Integration has this note within the episode discussion which adds depth. You could literally add your own show notes and depth within the fountain app via nostr. 🤘🏻 image

The edge effect at work. Nice 👍🏽
The rabbit manure is directly accessible to the plants without resting or composting. Rabbits are very efficient at turning plant material to meat. If you want to listen to the podcast, I go into detail on how the system was designed.
You can see show note link on PCR72 to get on the Fountain Beta from Oscar if you are interested.

This is bad ass!
I will listen for sure 👍. I just thought they may have eaten it or helped in different ways I couldn’t imagine. Thanks! I’ll check it out-super cool!
Will do. I only had a sec to scroll and saw the post without much time to dig-my bad but ty for the heads up
Great podcast! Thanks for the great POW insights…I like how you have incorporated different animals depending on their strengths / your needs…my buddy just bought 120acre farm in Upstate and wants to do this kind of stuff so I sent him the pod ( he has some btc on coinbase but I haven’t totally been able to get the btc-pill all the way down - hope this episode helps!)
Permaculture Cannabis Production, how I use permaculture to grow cannabis, start to finish, all my techniques. image Join me on September 4th, 8pm eastern, for the next installment of the monthly Permabits live stream on corny chat. I'll be detailing how I grow cannabis and why I do it the way I do. Nearly zero outside inputs, minimal watering, high quality, large yeilds. Not to mention protein production built into the system. I don't usually talk techniques so there is going to be a lot of specific detail in this one. The stage will be open for questions and discussion throughout. Tune in and chill out! Shout out to @soulexporter for the design. Follow and zap him! #permaculture #permies #homesteading #cannabis #weedstr #cornychat #livestream #permabits #meshtadel
