What unrestricted, ideally decentralized video sharing platforms WORK?
I've been through this too many times, I want to use platforms like zap.stream or 3speak, but they are just too buggy...
For a while I've used Bitchute simply because it sort of works and I know they are brave and on the right side of history, but its not decentralized.
Without a smooth workflow that is on really decentralized platforms I'll just end up using Rumble or even Youtube. The plan is to include those, but I want my default and first priority to be right!

These things are super hard to run because nobody wants to pay for the bandwidth. If you set it up with honest pricing you'll get 0.1% of potential content creators (or viewers, if you make them pay for the bandwidth) and so no network effect and so no viewers.
Yeah, I know... Yet we need these platforms!
I did check out why 3speak is unreliable, turns out the lead dev has abandoned it, found a couple of likely bottlenecks in the code even, can't remember how right now.
At least we have Nostr, worst case I'll just anchor everything in posts here with links to several platforms for each item :-)
Upload it to any server and build am rss feed. The problem is you're looking for a platform hoping they'll fix it for you. Get more sovereign by utilizing the rss protocol instead. Rss feeds (including video) are compatible with hundreds of apps. Countless platforms for the price of one. RSS has been around for decades so you know the tech is rock solid. If one app is buggy pick another - your content can be accessed by all of them automatically. (Remind you of a certain social media protocol?)
Hmmm... I guess I could pipe an RSS feed through my own website when I get around to that...?
The previous iteration of what I was doing was while attempting to stay 100% anonymous, now that I've relocated and sort of given up on that each service might be easier to deal with.
Gotta go through all of the RSS & podcast sharing stuff again I guess :-)
Or simply install Peertube on my own, I'm not aiming for tons of views anyway, its all about the few who will really matter in the future!
You can still stay anonymous. For the file upload you can utilize blossom servers I think? You can always upload to something like nostr.build if you dont want to associate your domain.
From there, your feed needs to be included into podcast index and as long as you have the proper tags, it will be instantly discoverable by all compatible apps for your media type.
I've sort of burnt the bridge of total anonymity for other reasons, but thanks.
Will check nostr.build for real, up until now I've been trying to keep to free services simply to get the lay of the land, but now that is changing.
I've seen blossom mentioned but never checked it out, will do so now!
Also I've seen some get IPFS to work even for video, I'm always running some VPS of sorts, so maybe that could be an even better route to take...
Kinda none. Maybe plebs.app which I used to post this
