I pay my coffee in bitcoin every day. Breakfast too, most days. My favorite lunch place doesn't accept bitcoin yet, but that will probably change soon. Nice dinner for two? Pay in bitcoin. No problem. It's so normal for me now I don't even think about it, and I rarely celebrate it. But we should. We should celebrate how far we've come. I went to the dentist yesterday and paid in bitcoin. My favorite barber takes bitcoin too, as does my handyman and other people that help me with stuff. There's never an issue. QR code, scan, boom. Sats fly through the Lightning Network and it's done. Thank you, bye, see you tomorrow. Granted, hyperbitcoinization isn't evenly distributed yet, but some people are already on the other side of it. And it feels very normal. Just like having access to the internet at all times feels very normal today, but it was an outrageous thing 30 years ago. Stay humble. Stack sats. And see you on the other side.

Of course it would be fun and exciting if could sell coffee or do other work and earn bitcoin.
Amazing! I live in a state that thinks math is bad. So no go. I can't even *buy* it on fold 😂 Fk NY

That is the way! Bitcoin exists… We can use it daily for nearly everything. Bitrefill and TheBitcoinCompany as well as Shopinbit.com are really great… Even for normies.
Any wallet that can handle a Lightning payment. Merchants use different solutions, but many use SwissPay.

Okay, so the businesses accept bitcoin. You’re not just using a fold credit card and “paying with bitcoin.” I’m curious what lightning wallet you use?
Orange pilling in Germany is so hard. People instantly tell about the tax authorities and how they don't want to even think about the hassle for those bare exception of a client.

Excelente! #bitcoin #btc #sats #ogovernoquesevire #aceitebitcoin
That's wild, every time I hear someone talk about living on Bitcoin, they're just using gift cards (same as every altcoin user so who cares). Businesses accepting it directly is wild.
I'm in Spain and that is not that far yet. Where do you live in ?

Everybody around me accepts Monero and Bitcoin, because I made it so. If you wait for others to make life dimple for you you're long dead before you can enjoy the fruits of your labour.
You need to talk to those who know the value of cash. Small shops, farmers, restaurants and craftsmen. Also it helps to introduce them to Monero as well. Bitcoin to store value and Monero to accept digital cash with ease. Forget about chains or big supermarkets. They are the result of the fiat economy and will be the last to adapt.
Everywhere. Only depends on YOU! From my own experience this will take you around 5 years if you start today. Most will start to accept under the table long before they go public with it. Monero helps to not endanger them (steep learning curve with coin joins, and self-custodial LN).

Nice, I’m going to see you on the orange side next year. Hope you are still there then. ☕️🔆🧡⛵️🌴
It's not that sad. The real sad situation is when even offering people to pay you in bitcoin is illegal and punished by a hefty fine. Unfortunately, Russian central bankers are way smarter than the Western ones, they clearly studied Bitcoin and learned what consequences would be if it's allowed to be freely used as money. I know that in the long run it doesn't matter but currently the situation is like this.
⚡️ Fort Nakamoto Field Report Received ⚡️ This is the kind of post we forward directly to HQ and whisper, “It’s happening.” Paying the dentist with Lightning? That’s elite-tier sovereignty. When your teeth AND your time preference are in top shape, the fiat world doesn’t stand a chance. We salute you, citizen—living proof that hyperbitcoinization doesn’t knock… it quietly moves in and starts tipping barbers. #FortNakamoto #SatsAcceptedHere #SovereignSpend #BitcoinIsMoneyNow #ZapTheDentist #ProofOfLunch

They can’t convert it without finding another person that wants bitcoin. So they are using bitcoin to get what they want. Your negativity can’t stop bitcoin.

> finding another person that wants bitcoin Apparently exchanges exist. That's where the fiat price of Bitcoin comes from that you're drooling over every day. "Bitcoin payment service providers" will even do it for you behind the scenes so all you ever get to see as a merchant is fiat.

How’s life there in Uvita? I know a lot about @Bitcoin Jungle (really inspiring stuff!) but I don’t know that much about normal life there. Is it safe? Couple of my friends have told me that robberies, home invasions, etc. are a problem in Costa Rica, but one of them told me this over 10 years ago and the other did not live anywhere close to Uvita. It would be cool to know what you think about it.
managing my lightning node casually from the beach. earning some yield. i a few years i hope i can live from it and spending those sats easily everywhere🧡
There are people in the world who pay with bitcoin daily and don’t even know that there’s an argument against it. Similarly, there are also people in the world who have barely paid for anything with bitcoin and don’t know that someone on the internet accuses them of not “using” bitcoin. View quoted note →

Uvita is paradise. Ask around here at #nostr (1st unconference #Nostrica happened here in 2023). I assure you here (and Costa Rica in general) is safer than anywhere in the world. AND we'll never get involved in a war (we have no army)... Anyway, come and check for yourself 🤙🇨🇷⚡

If you pay in fiat, how do you stack sats?! Almost the same way. But when you life on a bitcoin standard you can stack a bit more sats, because fiat is loosing value over time.
It took us around 1,5 year in Friesland for 25 merchants. And more soon, as the most are by the last 3 months since we have a flyer, updated website and activily visiting merchants.

It makes a lot of sense to support businesses that accept Bitcoin. But how did you orange pill them?
Using Bitcoin as a SOV and MOE is the only impactful vote I can cast, that along with raising some good kids (fingers crossed) and working hard to create value for society. Politics and its practitioners are parasites, feeding into the worst instincts in all of us. Bitcoin is the only viable antidote for the fiat military industrial cancer killing us. To know that people are sovereignly transacting with one another using an immutable, global, neutral, decentralized currency gives me hope that we may find our way out of the mess that human greed perpetuated by fiat currencies have created.
I asked the owner of a cafe who had a "no cards, cash only" sign. He said it wasn't worth it for the remaining season.
This is the world I want to live in! While my family and I get to pay directly in bitcoin for a number of things already, there is a long way to go. Working on it to bring this to reality in our community⚡️ View quoted note →
would love to hear your opinion not only on vibe coding software, but bitcoin and bitcoin adoption in the financial markets (and the current state of bitcoin). did you see that coming? did you see it coming so early or late? opinion on microstrategy copy cats? wall street co-opting core devs? yes or no? any podcast appearances planned? i think could really need this right now.
Communist Canada will deteriorate until all of your snow-pesos hit zero in bitcoin terms I'm afraid, so good luck to you my friend.
Well, I have run a lightning node myself. Thus, I think I have enough knowledge to help merchants. How do you guys approach people? Perhaps they would start small (i.e. WoS) and grow from this. But, the main thing is, how do you convince them to accept a "scary new payment method". I say "scary" because, during conversations, the first time Bitcoin comes out from my mouth they start to panic...
First step is under the table. Make him install an app or bring a cheap phone yourself preloaded with a good wallet e.g. Cake that you leave him for the season. Step two: Come back with friends regularly to make him aware itvis worth to put some time into this. Third step: Bring some mini server installed with BTCPayServer. You encounter merchants not in one go. Every metchant is at least a one year project.

Proof of work. Since no one pays me in bitcoin directly, I mow so I don’t have to sell any bitcoin for dirty dirty fiat. One day at a time.
I'd love to spend my sats that easily! I would also like to have a convenient way to replace those sats, buying the same amount I just spent. Unfortunately, spending bitcoin to purchase goods or service triggers an hefty capital gain taxation that really makes a spend-n-replace approach too costly and ultimately prevents me from regularly using bircoin as a MoE.
I believe it's both, i.e. 'sats flow'. You spend the Bitcoin you replenish, ideally by getting paid in Bitcoin (which is not common), and save more than you spend (stacking). Then leveraging new technologies (AI), hard work or any other enterprise you can muster (proof of work) to increase your satsflow. Stacking and spending are not mutually exclusive, though stacking has a greater gravitas than spending, for the apparent reason that you'll be able to buy 1.25, 1.50, or 2 times as much of whatever it is you wanted, if you wait - this is where low time preference comes in re purhcases, alongside being able to purchase higher-quality goods - effectively changing how the economy woks. It seems to me alongside Bitcoin, is the idea that we should be using our mental capacity/gifts etc, to create value, and high-quality goods. For those that have >100 Bitcoin this is easy to do, they have the time to standbac and spend sometime in contemplation, for those less that 1 Bitcoin, this can seem far fetched, or not a reality for them - though the hope is, that they will too be able to enjoy the fruit of being on a Bitcoin standard. Also, it's a hidden (you can't assign it a metric to track), but the more people who move to a Bitcoin standard, the better the reality becomes you, i.e. you can't fully know the real benefit (it's potentially massive) of giving your sats to someone else, the more the network grows, the more valuable it is, that means for you also, even though you might not have as much Bitcoin as you once did etc. If you can imagine sats being like blood, and everyone is an organisim that participates in such a mannor that only when the blood flows between all it's parts, does it become optimal, superoptimal. etc Anyways, I'm yammering - pax!

> save more than you spend Cool cool looks like you've put some thought into it. If everyone saves more than they spend, i.e. everyone's stack is growing, where do those additional Bitcoins come from? From mining? I understand about 93% of all Bitcoins have already been mined, will those other 7% be sufficient to grow everyone's stack?

I have a question (forgive me if it sounds naive.) What would happen if Bitcoin transactions were to be restricted? (For instance, if a government were to consider banning Bitcoin ownership.) My motivation is about preserving my fundamental right to utilize the value I've legitimately earned as I see fit. But with Bitcoin too I'm experiencing constant confrontation with KYC and clear identification requirements. So where is the difference? Looking at the current developments in the EU, I can't help but feel that Bitcoin's usage is fundamentally at odds with their interests. A restricted use of Bitcoin - isn't that completely contradicting the Bitcoin philosophy? What's the underlying purpose of this pervasive financial surveillance of private citizens? Isn't this ultimately about preemptively suppressing potential dissent? I understand that it's extremely difficult to ban a decentralized system like Bitcoin. And naturally, one could continue to use and manage it independently. But there’s a gap between online rhetoric and real-world practic. How many would cave in when the law comes knocking at their door?
