Propaganda I’m NOT falling for, as a Bitcoiner: 1. Political saviorism. I don’t believe in politicians. Left, right, they’re all playing the same game. Flirting with state power goes against the values of Bitcoin. You can’t vote your way into freedom. 2. 'Tradwife' isn’t cool. Middle/low class women weren’t happy, they were broke & dependent. Rich housewives were always the exception. If you can’t leave it’s not love, it’s a trap. Bitcoin = real choices for everyone. 3. HODL until you die. No thanks. I’m here for freedom, not for another religion. Bitcoin is a tool. Use it to live well, not just to cope. Spend it, enjoy it, build with it. 4. Extreme purity culture. Yes, I care about security. But I also live in the real world. I won’t die if I buy a coffee with a custodial wallet. Tradeoffs are fine if you are free to choose them. 5. Cut everyone off. I won’t 'divorce' my friends and family because they don’t get it. They are free to stay out. I am free to stay close. One day, they might ask. I’ll be there. Love > ego 6. “Bitcoin fixes everything”. No, it doesn’t. That’s a childish take. Bitcoin is powerful, but it’s not magic. It won’t fix your relationship, your bad diet or your ego. It gives you tools... not a personality. Fix yourself. Then use Bitcoin to build better.

You’re my favorite Bitcoin educator, always. Screw all the toxic maximalists, fake ancaps, and so-called purists — who, let’s be honest, always end up being just another flavor of right-wing.

Right, it's about free choices
You're right, but it depends on what we want to achieve. If the goal is to stay a small community of hardcore Bitcoiners, then your point makes sense. But if we’re seriously aiming for mass adoption, then we fucking need people like @Forever Laura — people who explain Bitcoin in a simple and accessible way.
These points could become a myers-brigg style classification. Then a profile nip so we can filter accordingly. Viewed from outside nostr is just a maximalist echo chamber but surprisingly there is nuance here. 😍 the "Love > ego"
Look, I’m a maximalist too — just hopefully not as toxic as many others. But I stand by what I said: real maximalists are more than welcome, but if we want to move forward, we need to be gentler with those who are still outside the Bitcoin world. That’s all. Peace and love, brother 🧡
Do you have children Laura ? Serious question because I see a lot of talk about trad wife's from you. I was a trad wife and mam for 10 years, was I completely 100% happy probably not. (Middle class) but we made it work for the kids. I didn't nor did my husband want no one else bringing my kids up so it just works. Now my kids are partly grown my husband and I are very much still together after 20 years my kids are happy we are happy and stepping into a new life. Unless you have children you cannot pass off ' trad wife's ' and put them in any bracket we do what is best for our families and kids. ( I do know a lot of women would be happy to be a trad wife and watch their kids grow but this day and age doesn't let you) the trad wife talk is bull shit . If anything bitcoin lets you be that 'trad wife' and stay home with your children. New world feminism is bullshit! What woman wouldn't want to raise thier own kids.
I believe Laura didn’t mean to promote a one-size-fits-all model. It’s important to remember that many women are forced into being tradwives — not by choice, but due to domestic violence or financial dependence. Bitcoin can offer a tool for freedom and independence in such situations. If a woman freely chooses to be a tradwife, that’s perfectly fine. But the key point is this: the freedom to choose. Long live freedom.

If "tradwife isn't cool" then is sending your kids to statist education where it's at? what exactly is your family ideal
It's like she took my feelings and made them sounds. And far more eloquently than I would have.

I have children and have lived both ways, tradwife and working mom. I can appreciate the merit of both. I can also see that she doesn't mean it shouldn't be a thing, just that it needs to find its place in society. It's not an option for everyone and shouldn't be touted as the only option.
Trad is a spectrum, and the trad side is lightyears better than the progressive side
Trad wife is wrong. Proverbs 31 woman is right. A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

So have I, but 'trad wife isn't cool' that statement alone is wrong 😑 trad wife can be the most beautiful thing in the world if that fits your family. Now I get the point of some women are forced into this and are unhappy but that statement is not cool.
Thank you @Forever Laura to speak out loud my mind! I 💯 subscribe all that you said! 👌

>Tradeoffs are fine if you are free to choose them lmao. you don't have scalable self-custody yet. custodial wallets are optional only when the network activity is under capacity. you're framing it like a perfectly innocent option when it's really not.

Yes, except the toxic maxis. We owe them bitcoin’s resistance to attacks and bad actors. The spam war is just another example.
the truth is at the extremities. something you should already know as a christian. also, 12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. image

Thanks for sharing! However I have to say that #Bitcoin fixed my bad diet and also my high time preference view with relationships!

I would like to have clients who would pay me for architectural services in exchange of bitcoin we all trade something and I would like to live in a world where I’d choose the currency I feel it’s best to use when purchasing any kind of goods and services
RIght on! I like this. Definitely important to remember that life isn't all about money. Sometimes I feel like bitcoiners will have to relearn this lesson within the context of bitcoin. "Bitcoin fixes everything", no it doesn't. But it sure does seem like it shifts the gears of humanity from "Reverse" to "Drive". Like we've been backslipping for the last 50 years in every aspect and almost every reason can be traced back to fiat

Man are people actually cutting off their friends and family? How stupid. THAT'S cultish
4. And 6 are false IMO but otherwise ok. 4. If everybody think like that Bitcoin is doomed. Because only custodial shit will have a market. So doing the hard choice of testing and bootstrapping the best tools in order to try making them suitable for the maximum number of (non power) user is kind a duty for a Bitcoiner. It's about having a low time preference. 6. Bitcoin fixes absolutely everything that you say it will not fix. Or rather it's being a Bitcoiner which fixes everything. It's a bit of caricature of course, but at least it will improve all of that through low time preference, again.
After the psycopandemic it was clear that I am around an ocean of enemies, including family members and ex friends. People that would send me to a concentration camp for not taking the poison vaccine that even killed a few and injured many others. Before it I even tried to have normal relationships with the NPCs and normies, now they just gave the freedom to not care at all. Besides that you don't get other economics aspects of bitcoin, reading Rothbard, Mises, Hoppe would help.
thanks! nice to hear some common sense. especially about "bitcoin fixes everything"
