Using an S9 Bitcoin miner to heat a cold from growing plant starts this spring. Been running it at 500-700w to keep temperature 70-80Β°f. I unplug and open the up the cold frame during the day if it's warm to get more light and wind to make for stronger plants. On cloudy cold days it stays running to keep it nice and warm. It's been working very well so far! #bitcoinmining #plebmimer #permaculture #homesteading #gardening #cannabis #bitcoin #s9

Love this! Seems easier than digging up the earth to put in passive radiant heating. Stack the Sats
Impressive. 600W means pretty quiet too - if anyone's thinking of heating home or a garage.

The Bitcoin mining cold frame stays plenty warm for the cannabis starts. The S9 will have to continue to heat this cold frame for another month or so. As the weather gets warmer it will be less and less necessary. I'll have to find something else to do with the heat or it doesn't make sense to run the machine.

I love the use of the s9 in this way is there a community of users that have standard techniques for using s9 in this or other creative ways or are you just figuring it out as you go?
I'm in a miming group on telegram. I think there is one called home mining wizards. I keep forgetting to add the #plebminer hashtag. There are a bunch of pleb miners on Twitter still.
Double spending energy mining Bitcoin and heating this cold frame growing cannabis and vegetable starts. image Now that I've been using the S9 to heat the cold frame for a couple weeks I'm confident that it can keep consistent temps and not dry things out too much. I moved all the starts I had growing in a window inside out to the cold frame where they can get more light. image The starts from indoors are very leggy and the seedlings started in the cold frame are at various stages of growth due to a mouse that kept eating the seeds I replaced after a rogue chicken plucked up the majority of the initial sprouts. All in all, doing better than last year thanks to the extra warmth from the Bitcoin miner. #plebminer #homemining #bitcoinmining #bitcoin #mining #homesteading #permaculture #permies #grownostr #cannabis #seedlings #gardening
GM! Watering the cannabis starts in the cold frame. image These starts will be ready to go in the ground by the 15th but I don't know if I will have the beds prepared in time. image Now that the threat of frost is nearly gone and nighttime temps are in the 50s. I decided to put the S9 that was acting as a heater away until I find another use for it's heat (or until hash price goes up drastically). #permaculture #permies #homesteading #cannabis #coldframe #gardening #plebminer #bitcoin #bitcoinmining #homeminer #grownostr #hash2heat #doublespendenergy #gm View quoted note β†’

What type of climate are you working with?
Not sure if it's helpful to you but on braiinsOS you can set the target temp instead of the wattage. Its temp at the chip so I'd think if you set it around 80-85 or something the ambient temp will be in that 70-80 range
