I need some advice. What should I do first?

Primal premium - not needed, you can get a nip-05 from lots of places including ones like nostrplebs.com and even free ones like nostr-check.com or nostrcheck.me
How do I find people to follow? - You can find people to follow based on hashtags of interest, or using other nostr apps like Nostrudel.ninja to see a global feed
What else am I missing? - highly recommend using multiple nostr clients. If you’re on iOS you could try our Damus or Nostur, android has Amethyst. You could set up a custom lighting address or run your own relay and blossom server if you really want to nerd out on all the nostr fixings 🤓

I recommend trying out several clients in addition to Primal and see what you like best. It’s perfectly normal to use more than one, and it helps you to see what interesting features of Nostr some devs are focused on vs. others.
Premium levels on Primal and Damus let you unlock additional features that are specific to each app.
Profile pics can be hosted on @nostr.build and some clients will let you upload and host it on their file storage.
You also don’t have a wallet attached yet, so you should look into the options with NWC-compatible wallets like @Alby Hub, @Mysterious Hamster, and others.
When in doubt, #AskNostr!
Follow a lot of people at first to make your feed dynamic (don’t hesitate to unfollow after).

Oh, and 5… UI’s are still figuring a lot out and this is the Wild West of a new protocol. Lots of dev happening here, so don’t let the tech talk and Bitcoin self-sovereigns put you off. It comes with the space due to its origin as a freedom tech. So just enjoy the ongoin construction, as this is a frontier town.
6. Set up your wallet to send and accept zaps. That is one of the coolest v4v features.

I copied my lightning address from Muun and Primal says “invalid address”. Hmm
Stop using primal.
Use Damus or Amethyst.
Follow and use appropriate hashtags. Spamming hashtags is poor form and most people will block you.
Learn about how the Nostr protocol works. It's not just you'd boring social media bs.
Muun isn't true lightning as far as I can remember - there's a number of other options available which are great though

It’s enabled by default. You can tap the receive button (down arrow) to know what address to send sats to
Oh so I just haven’t been zapped yet. Now I need to think of something of value to say.
Also on primal, set up a lightning wallet and link it to nostr, try different frontends for comparison. Primal works for me.

Go to trending feeds and engage in conversations and you'll find people.
Also explore following.space to see more people to follow. We'll make this easier in primal eventually.
do take some time to check out primal advanced search as well. You can create & save custom feeds based on your preferences.

Primal is just awful. It is a result of the above devs trying to recreate all the dumb stuff about big tech and doing it poorly.

They also have a centralized relay and their "software" doesn't let people read from other relays different than their own big relay
