My wife and I just throw a somewhat risky "get to know your neighbors" party in our apartment. Nobody knew each other in spite of living just a few feet away. Whole floor invited. Everybody came. Very different backgrounds, lots of fun just telling stories. A 3hr party became 6hrs. Huge success.
A good reminder that good things do happen when you give them a chance.

Right on. I recently found out my neighbor makes empanadas and sells them from her house for 5 bucks. She’s got quite the home business going.
Invite the whole trailer park over for drinks, joints, food? 🤷
Need more deets.
So no one was trying to sell anything after 2 mins of conversation?
I threw a house warming party when I first moved in and same success. Got to meet my neighbors and hugely beneficial
Right on!
How many people generated their keys? 🤓
Well done!
Nobody touched their phones.
Sounds like a great party!
We often hosted kids class parent get together. Super awkward at first. Then great way to start to get to know people who will play a part in your life. Wish more people did this. Nice! LFG
did it allow you to get next to any hot mamazitas?
Work in progress
may the Mediterranean goddesses be upon you
I told my wife we should have one for our neighborhood (we moved not long ago) but she thinks it’s weird and apparently not something they do in Japan… 😔
This is the way.

Cool we need more local communities 👍
Love to see it.
I dont think it was that sort of party, Derek. Such filth. 🌝

Those are the best parties.
A Open mind ist often fruitful.
Social interaction.
That's outstanding! I remember having block parties when I was growing up in the seventies and we'd block off the street and everyone would bring picnic tables and grills out and enjoy time together. Having a hard time imagining doing that now. Good for you and your wife!
Very nice decision from opsec point of view 🙌
My wife was telling me something similar about Japan, in general people don’t invite others to their house..
You can always try. Maybe it will be a hit or you will tell her she was right...
Wifes are always right!
Love it!
"Yo, for real! But what if it flops hard tho? 😂 Should I just roll the dice or play it safe? 🤔"
Even if no one shows up, @🐈 will be able to eat all the treats and drink all the refreshing beverages.
From where do you know my wife? 🤣
Meanwhile in America, I'm having a large party today. Let's go!
Nice. None of my IRL friends or neighbors are on Nostr either 😩
Wonderful, but don't make the failure to repeat it! Wait at least 1 or two years.
THIS IS INSANE... Hear me out... I just bumped into a press release about a launch of an online dating site, Frisky Silvers, for old people. There was something about the name (Frisky Silvers) that it stuck with me. So, when I read your post, I mistakenly read “risky” as “frisky”.
“My wife and I just throw a somewhat frisky "get to know your neighbors" party in our apartment. Nobody knew each other in spite of living just a few feet away. Whole floor invited. Everybody came. Very different backgrounds, lots of fun just telling stories. A 3hr party became 6hrs. Huge success.

I thought to myself that “wow, that was one crazy idea that could have ended up really badly for you and your wife, but thank God the whole building is full of swingers or swinger wannabes”.
I read through some of the first comments, like …
DreMik: "Wonderful, but don't make the failure to repeat it! Wait at least 1 or two years.”
Connie: “Love it!”
Ready to Prepare: “Very nice decision from opsec point of view 🙌”
… and after reading them I still thought that you had decided to throw “a somewhat frisky get to know your neighbors party”.
It was only after I read the fourth comment (Dad Guy’s comment) that I decided to re-read your post.
Wow, what a crazy rollercoaster of emotions...
Anyway, congratulations on the party!
