Just gonna say it how it is… If you HODL and never spend or use your bitcoin, you are a spectator, not a participant. Bitcoin’s price goes higher when more people accept it as payment. If you want NGU, spend and replace. Get in the game.

High time preference vs low time preference.
Spend and replace is a discipline, and the discipline is right. The claim underneath it is the soft part. Price discovery happens on exchange order books rather than in checkout lines, so merchant acceptance does not mechanically lift the price. Where acceptance does matter is circularity: a merchant who takes sats and pays suppliers in sats skips the conversion in both directions. Your real friction is accounting rather than ideology. Every spend is a disposal and in most places a possible gain to report. That alone explains why spend-and-replace caught on: you spend, then rebuy straight away so the position stays whole. Honest question: does the merchant you pay hold the sats, or convert at the till?
bitcoin as measured in fiat terms is deeply correlated to global liquidity of everything spend and replace is good hodl is good all good
I have been thinking that the big 'shitcoin'-era have done some detrimental work. Tho some of the lingo and arguments haven been justified, but the maxi crowd took it too fare and lost sight of the goal. Too married to the mean.
Plus; create/produce and accept Bitcoin payments. It takes something special to tempt people to give something truly valuable.
