This is really cool, I want to look at how I can expand out the market place listings on my site. At the moment it's just a simple 'contact seller' but presumably you've got options in the NIP for things like instantly deliverable digital products etc?
So great. 2 questions: do y'all know of any existing projects to embed these on an existing site? Can I edit the v4v part to go to multiple vendors? For example 1% to my meetup, 1% to y'all, 1% to amethyst, etc.
I don't understand the first question fully; a website than can embed nip99 or a website that displays your plebeian shop? yes you can add as many npubs to your v4v, each with a custom split 🦾
You can dirty iframe it to some extent, but the checkout process either is handled at the marketplace or on your side by the embedded code which at this point does not exist. But a nice widget that displays your kind 30402 events by npub is just one prompt away 😆.
The first question. I'm looking for any other project or code base that is embedding nip 99 listings outside of the platforms listed here. I mean I guess I could probably just use the assets in your code base, would need to review.
Plebian.Market URL operates from the UK and will not display items that are illegal here. Respect the terms of someone else's server or use your own. Self hostable instances will be available later
That's what I'm looking for. Cuz I sell raw milk at our meetup and just use the marketplaces as an easy creation mechanism, then my customers zap and I know how much to bring. Plus I'm hoping to help a bit with the btcpay integration so we can have built in inventory management.
I guess also there is a second question, which I think I know the answer to. Is it possible to change the zap split based on the client the sale is made in? For example if I make a sale on your site, you get 5%, but if it happens on amethyst, you get 1% and they get 4%? I haven't dug into the spec yet so I'm unsure if the zap split is coupled to the listing or not.
the split is only generated by this client at the checkout unfortunately so if an item sells anywhere else it would depending in setting up a split on their side... Same as shipping doesn't follow across platforms (atm?)
your domain n service is so far well maintained small biz / virtual garage sale should use it in case of any reg. trouble in future someone can deploy the code in another domain as needed. cross border shipping is most expensive hardest part - people should lock items for small refundable payment n exchange good in physical meeting for example
yup... the previous storefronts were all nip15 so each merchant needs to login and hit the migrate button for each product... the migration tool recreates the nip15 product as a nip99 one and it will show in their shop... the original nip15 product is left in tact and still exists in whatever markets show nip15 products... hope that helps 👍
Yes.... plebeian market is just a single "instance" of the plebeian app... eventually we will release an installation guide so that anyone with a vps server can install it on their own website International shipping is always a challenge... nothing we can really do bout that apart from hook into some of the global delivery companies to make it easier for people to arrange that The solution is ultimately designed to build and support local circular economic communities 👍
Good question ser... I don't know about embedding it on any site... maybe as @Sync has suggested an iframe but the checkout might cause issues... But a widget?! thats a great idea Alternatively you can run your own instance of the plebeian app but that might be overkill Regarding the v4v... absolutely yes... it's up to the seller how they want to share whatever % of the sale and with any npub that has a working wallet 👍 I've just seen @Yojimble 's response... I should've just copy pasta that 😂 hope that helps
Boring but I just have to say this for the record... no you can not suddenly sell drugs, guns, or any NSFW stuff on Plebeian Market... it has to abide by the laws of the UK If you live in a country where you are legal to sell that kind of thing then setup your own instance of Plebeian app... we'll be providing an installation guide soon In all honesty though the dark market should stay in the dark net imo... if it works don't fix it... nostr isn't an improvement it's very clear net We've got a very strict policy on PM... instant permanent ban and removal
Yes Matt there's a full multi-vendor shopping cart and yes you can sell digital products too Eventually (2 weeks) we'll supply an installation guide so that people can create their own marketplaces... all will be totally interoperable... so you can show other peoples products on your site if you so wished AND anyone can show your products on their website It's going to be very cool
We have to abide by UK laws... nostr doesn't suddenly bypass the laws of any country unfortunately... it's good but not that good Even though we never touch the money (ever, it is truly decentralised and p2p) we would still be held responsible... so yeah there's a zero tolerance policy, instant ban and removal Technically we can delete items from our own relay but not from other relays If you want to buy/sell that stuff and are in a country where it is legal then you can take the code and install it on your own website or node Plebeian Market is not a platform in the traditional sense... it's just one instance of a website using the Plebeian open source solution and we're dedicated to bitcoin and nostr maxis
I’ve chosen to stay and fight for my country peacefully like a grown up And thanks to Satoshi I’m building an open source solution that will enable self sovereign communities to require little from government… lessen the burden and so smaller government and less tax So I’m going to do the smart thing and not poke the bear 👍
That makes sense. Multiple markets run by multiple operators. Yours may be in compliance to mitigate risks. While some shadowy market runners can do their stuff out of compliance forking your software. Your defense would be: we cannot avoid people coyping our code and running it in their own instances. If that's the strategy, I'd be very clear about what you run and what you don't run to avoid confusions. Governments folks aren't the sharpest people.
Of course, but sadly, the overlords also make responsible anyone that can prevent what they deem illegal if they fail to prevent it.
PoW! Well done 💪 PS. The listings that were published on the old standard are now gone for good, I understand? We have to make new ones from scratch?
thank you ser... When you login there will be a Migration Tool in the left hand menu which will display all your nip-15 products and you can republish each product in the nip-99 format Your original nip-15 listings stay as they are, we do not delete them, but they will not be shown through the Plebeian app... they can still be seen in any nip-15 compatible markets 👍
Yeah nice idea Samuel thank you... it's a possibility... Initially we will be creating instructions so that anyone with a standard VPS server can connect to it through a terminal and run a single line of code to install an instance 👍
Makes sense. In the meantime if you want we can collaborate on that to see how we can structure that — I’m leading a biz in Bitcoin product engineering FWIW;)
Ah cool, thanks! I checked out the Dashboard yesterday actually to see if there's something like that there, but somehow missed it. Great thing to have :)
The website Plebeian Market is just one instance of the Plebeian solution/app… all shops and products are under the ownership and control of the users and exist on nostr relays If PM was down, go use any nip-99 interoperable marketplace Protocols > Platforms image
I don't have the time bc I have 5 other dev projects I'm working on plus harrassing my county govt, but I could definitely advise someone who wants to vibe code this.
