Well you cant use nostr without someone sharing your data for you, and no one will do that for free for everyone, sooooo... Also "get a life"? I thought I was the old man here.

I assume you agree Primal Pro is a larp, since you didnt bother to defend it and gave me life advice instead.
its an optional paid service for companies and power users instead of personally attacking me all the time consider building better products

Why is it a terrible take? Please explain. I try to be accurate. Also, are you saying we should all be trying to get everyone to like us? Why?

We already are building better products, on a better protocol. Maybe people will care, maybe they won't, but that much is true. Are you sure I am the one that chose the personal tactics? I feel like we discussed this.
i have been civil this entire time, anyone can check our posts to confirm for themselves you continue to act in bad faith for engagement and it is lame image

Odell will be fine, it's just difficult building apps and fixing the web... it's work that's riddled with ego traps too.

On the bright side, your nostr posts are still making their way to twitter and getting engagement

Did ai help you write this crap? Unfortunately you are missing the subtext that invite codes serve the same purpose as charging for Primal: limited server resources, yet infinite demand for free cloud space
Anyone with common sense understands why it's a nonsensical comparison. I agree with many of your nostr criticisms but it's obvious you are here to provoke, your energy is not right. Is this a short term marketing strategy for Pubky now that you got some people looking at it? No, not everyone should like you. But it helps if someone likes you.
Did AI help you miss your own point? Invite codes are permissioned. Charging for server costs is capitalism. You can still post on Nostr without kissing anyone’s ring. That’s the difference…
Primal isn't suspect at all, IMO. They took VC money and people categorize them as being the devil for some reason. They took money from Bitcoiners. It's not like they took money from Shitcoiners and bad faith actors. I get it, be cautious. But also, I've been talking with them for the past 2.5 years. If someone on their team is doing bad stuff then they're a mastermind, because I sure as hell haven't seen it. I've seen a couple mistakes. They're human. They've fixed them and have released better products because of that growth. </Shill>

Literally all servers (and relays) and all computers on the web are permissioned!!! How could Primal even charge you otherwise?? Please stop with this nonsense and try to learn more.
I woke up that morning and saw everyone ripping him a new asshole and decided to be the bigger person and give him the benefit of the doubt with a nice conversation 😂 Fuck me I guess 😂

You are just making shit up, there is nothing transparent about primal's cost model lol ... and that is totally irrelevant anyway! We have a Pubky beta app, and it is the first Pubky app, and we are providing the first Pubky server, so people can try our beta app even before they have their own servers. If we let anyone in, it would fill up with spam and junk in a few days. You don't think nostr relays filter some nostr keys?! You don't think relays have limits? Think about this. Pubky is entirely open source, anyone can run any of the parts themselves, AND anyone can safely rely on anyone else to host their stuff for them ... why? Oh, because Pubky is better than Nostr and allows you to control your own DNS via your key, so even servers can't censor you (unlike nostr relays). THIS is the info and reality you are denying yourself by being uppity about Nostr. You end up saying ignorant things that make you look foolish to anyone that understands any of this. Pubky is new, but it is not evil or inferior in any way. Whether you believe me or not. So, you can stop this behavior now.
Not here to throw dirt, just setting the record straight. Primal’s pricing is actually pretty clear. You’re paying for things like faster indexing, a cleaner interface, and better relay access. There’s no mystery, no invites, just an option if you want extra features. That’s a fair trade in an open system. Pubky being open source is great, no one’s knocking that. But if people can’t even try it without an invite, then it’s gatekeeping in practice. Calling it a beta doesn’t change the fact that access is limited. If you’re going to talk about openness, it has to apply at the entry point too. Relays have limits, sure. Some filter users. But most of them aren’t pretending to be totally censorship-proof while doing it. If Pubky really solves that problem, great. But right now, if I need someone else’s permission just to get in, that’s still curated access. Let’s be honest about what that is. The DNS key idea is interesting. I’m not denying the potential of what Pubky might become. But we’re talking about what it is today, and today it’s not fully open. Nobody said Pubky is evil. This is just about being accurate with the words we’re using. If we actually care about decentralization and open access, then we should describe things plainly, without hype or ego. That’s all this is.
If that’s AI slop, maybe the bots just have better logic than the tantrums. You can throw names around all day…I’ll still be here if ya wanna still have a real convo.

Tone = provocative as usual Take = spot on tho 1) Invite codes are awesome for bootstrapping server-based businesses. I'm working out a scheme for doing this with :badge: Badges in @Zapchat . 2) Primal is :110percent: built for Nostr influencer larping. Pubky (the app) has copied quite some things from the Twitter-Influencer UI playbook too, that said.

Dont mistake graph stats and views for influencer larping. Everything in the app is designed to connect people with other people and URLs.

I get and appreciate that. It's the focus on publicly connecting **individual** people (Follows typically) that tends to force the influencer behavior on profiles. You seem to be trying to get profiles out of the box of "the one influencer thing they're known for" with topical tagging. That's a great step forward from the Twitter (and Primal) UX. I'm also going that route. I think interop Communities are more promising tho. "Follow" isn't a thing in the apps we're building.
Both approaches (traditional social media and invite-only communities) have their place. In nostr you can implement both. Pubky you can't even try it out.

Primal blows ass hard... Its censored I've tested it I've paid posted and the notes do not appear when I log in on different client and check my profile.. Theyre censoring post they disagree with and people they don't like or names their using with backdoor media deals.. Like my name BRICKMAN....
This person stuck with it and came out with a pretty tight comparison that I enjoyed reading. I'm in it for the tech and this kind of investigative spirit is always appreciated.

I have tested pubky and wrote a small comparison post on the key differences of #nostr and #pubky. I believe it is a good thing that both of them exists: we can't have too much of freedom tech. View article →
