@Jor Worth knowing why it broke. Aqua receives over a Boltz submarine swap, so an outage there takes your receive path down while your coins stay fine. Whatever you move to, check whether receiving leans on a third party swap or on the wallet's own channels.

we run nodes on LND. for personal use the team leans on Phoenix and Aqua. the Boltz issue was rough. Phoenix handles inbound liquidity via splicing so it sidesteps the swap dependency entirely.

Fair enough. I have a different perspective on it. While I run my own lightning node, I also use some custody lightning and liquid services. Also, I think the vast majority of people don't actually want to self custody, even if I wish they did.

Yeah, I could see that happen. I do think we'll eventually reach a point where people who have self custody Bitcoin will have a massive advantage over those who don't. We're arguably already seeing it today.
