Fair enough.
I have a different perspective on it. While I run my own lightning node, I also use some custody lightning and liquid services.
Also, I think the vast majority of people don't actually want to self custody, even if I wish they did.

I think the authorities plan to just keep collapsing exchanges / custodians of not only Bitcoin but every type of asset, until people learn to want self custody
Yeah, I could see that happen. I do think we'll eventually reach a point where people who have self custody Bitcoin will have a massive advantage over those who don't. We're arguably already seeing it today.
