Heads up, I won't be renewing the Plebs domain on 1st June and have sunset the project. It was great to be the first truly decentralized, Nostr-native YouTube-esque platform, which was the first to utilize Blossom hosts with mirrors for censorship-resistance, redundancy and failover. It was also the first to have a analytics engine for content creators. There are many reasons for this decision, but the main one is the realization that most content creators don't actually give a shit about censorship-resistance or decentralization, they're just concerned about views, which is just something only a centralized platform can really excel at serving. The code is open, so feel free to fork and keep it alive, or it can stay sunset for good. Either way, my entire focus is on Nymchat.

You’re one of the few people who’s an ideas person that’s able to execute. I’ve seen your work it’s really good. I wish you had more traction. That crypto donations website you used to run seemed cool as well. I hope you’re able to find the mechanisms necessary to gain traction for your projects.
ngl. ngmi. never used it once. it doesn't make any sense. blossom is capping the storage at 100MB . even with compression and reduced files, we can't get anything with substance on there. focus on nymchat. good call.
content creators love people who take them serious and respond to their issues. that is not common on Nostr. but sure blame them. 😂 hahaha it's the creators fault nostr apps are ded as fugg
Thanks for the attempt, I did put a couple of things on there to test it out when it first went up but got put off by the amount of "community notices" and beatboxer... I wasn't so interested in my stuff getting views as seeing interesting stuff when I did go there, the network effect never quite took off.
Thanks for the Proof of Work ! I tend to agree with you about the creators and views reciprocity. Are we too early or is it something that didn't "fit" in the current market ?
Sunsetting Plebs is a loss. The Blossom mirrors + creator analytics combo sounds like the kind of postmortem other Nostr video builders could learn from.
Something like this only makes sense to me, if it pipes in everything from YT and etc. over an API. So that I publish and respond to Nostr+EverythingElse from the Nostr app. Otherwise, I still have to post everywhere else and this adds work without adding many views.
I used it. I think it's a great idea. I had a few vids there, but got side tracked with my projects. Maybe I'll talk a look at forking plebs. 🤔 Thanks for all the fish 🫡
It was quite the conundrum. In order to get lots of views there needed to be quality content. In order to get quality content there needed to be lots of views. Snake eating its own tail.

Nice project, I am sorry to hear it did not workout. We do need a lot more video hosting sites, but it is very hard because of the creators need for views, and viewers need for content.
