🥜 #NutNovember I’ll admit it. I’ve complained about Cashu without ever really using it. Testing and random transactions do not count. So this month, I’m going nuts: ⚡ Using Cashu wallets for zaps and everyday Nostr transactions. ⚡ Treating eCash not as a novelty, but as real Bitcoin on Lightning. Fight me on this! If we’re serious about freedom tech, we’ve got to use it and not just talk about it. So for the entire month of November, I’ll be using #Cashu instead of my usual Lightning wallets and I’m inviting you to join me. Let’s see what it’s really like to live on eCash for a month. 🥜💸 Here’s how you can join in: 👉 Option 1: Use cashu.me as your eCash wallet. It uses npub.cash automatically as your Lightning address. For zapping, connect your NWC wallets. Be sure to log in with your browser extension so you use your real npub (otherwise it’ll generate a random one). 👉 Option 2: Try the @Minibits app Use it for both sending zaps with NWC And your own minibits.cash Lightning address 🪙 Recommended Mints: mint.chorus.community mint.minibits.cash/Bitcoin mint.0xchat.com

you don't need to do anything. cashu is a way to use custodial lightning more privately. for example, you're a user of wallet of satoshi. cashu has better privacy and a many other features enabled through its cryptography.
my man dot gif. we have to use these tools and test them in real world scenarios so we can give feedback to devs to build better products. we are the quality assurance teams for the masses.
when it comes to scammers, they take people's money and enrich themselves, right? how would @calle scam me out of my bitcoin unless he's secretly running every mint or in cahoots with all of the mint runners? he's either the world's best scammer or the world's worst scammer.
Nutshell mint was pretty simple to get going, even the manual install with Poerty isn’t too bad. Just link a funding source and you’re good to go 🤙
Agreed. Privacy doesn't mean criminal. What confuses me is how we are backing a public ledger (bitcoin) with all our might and being, then saying we want privacy ontop of it... Wouldn't that be like me using XMR and saying I don't want privacy on it? Idk. I just use things for what they are. 🤷
it's a way to add privacy to bitcoin for those that want all of the benefits of bitcoin without leaving the ecosystem. you don't have to take part of this experiement if you don't want to. im doing it for my reasons and you can also not do it for your reasons.

No. KYC is to the person not the utxos. There is no kyc on bitcoin. It simply links you to a utxo. Sending the utxo to cashu or even to whirlpool doesn’t get rid of kyc. It obfuscates the spending of a utxo. If foe any reason an authority wants to force you to prove you still haven’t sold your bitcoin without properly paying capital gains on it then you would be facing that issue. There is an important distinction. The transaction can be hidden but the legal obligations of kyc in the future aren’t removed. The kyc is at the custodian not the blockchain.
Reason being is becuase they're basing the send-to lock of tokens to the receiver's npub, where only they can unlock the token. What's missing from them to make it 'perfect' is if they make it so that it utilizes nutzaps (so that the receiver knows they've received ecash without the sender needing to manually send them the token).
FWIW, I've been using the nPub.cash/cashu.me combo for quite a while, and they're awesome! But, I recently started test-driving minibits - newly available on iOS app store - and it's even smoother. My 2 sats: especially if you're considering using the minibits mint, you may as well also just use the minibits app - the fewer potential sources of failure, the better.
Yes. Even if you don't plan to use your npub.cash address, it's probably a good idea to set up cashu.me to automatically check for anything that happens to get sent there.

Why not drive trains that could offer tokenized private bitcoin while having unilateral entry and exit?

Thats noise. lets evaluate tech and tradeoffs
Those who really care about normies and growing nostr then are going to be for USDT zaps. It's insanely hard for the average person to acquire "a little Bitcoin" in any form, be it lightning form or Cashu form (if you call Cashu a form). Strike doesn't even have debit card support anymore for goodness sakes. People just can't get the stuff, and no, begging nostr old-timers for a few handout sats is not a solution. The best path for growing nostr is USDT, because normies can actually GET A HOLD OF IT. Nostr doesn't run on Bitcoin like Farcaster runs on ETH , at best Bitcoin is just a plug-in, and USDT is a more useful one.

Thank you for your input☺️, you are increasing the awareness 🔥 *Too much scammers nowadays 😬😮‍💨😬* We need more people like you, who are vigilant and truly believer😤✅️ 🙂 (in BTC)
I love the initiative but haz no bandwidth for now. I have minibits but still priorities on lightning. I know calle is gonna kill me for saying this cuz we worked on lnbits together but -- There's SO MUCH UNFINISHED NOSTR +LN INTEGRATION TO WORKING STILL!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD
Didn't read, Cashu isn't Bitcoin! Jokes aside, appreciate the nuance and clarification. We've always been very clear about what cashu is. Some people just like to argue with themselves.
Crazy how I just scammed / zapped you Bitcoin to your custodial wallet of satoshi from my @Minibits wallet via NWC + Amethyst. Smooth.
Here is why I think it's useful. It's not meant to be used for everything, but it has certain strong points. Lighting has many issues when used self custodial. That's why most end up using a custodial wallet.

The thing is also to think like a non dev, apps like Olas was a perfect way to onboard normies (like me) but if they stop developing this kind of creative apps @PABLOF7z you will never get more content creators. I still Often think its all too much tech. Ok you will find Nostr (same like bitcoin) when you are ready. But don’t forget to think like a content creator. Lightning I agree with you too. It all started simple with @Alby just a plugin for your browser now its for me to much options (understand regularly pressure to change) but again became to much tech. It’s definitely different. And as a dev of Cashu tokens I would expect you to know the difference. (I know you do)Yes, both have tradeoffs but one is still bitcoin and the other is a casio token purchased for bitcoin. Fine I changed my address. I never kept more than like 500 sats in there anyway. I gotten rugged for more Cashu tokens than I ever lost sats in CoinOS. I’ve lost zero sats from using CoinOS. I can’t say that for Cashu. Lost several thousand from double spends.
Cashu enables use cases that Lightning can’t. I see it as an extension to Lightning. At the same time it’s superior to custodial Lightning in all aspects
To celebrate I baked you a special cake Derek 🎂󠅓󠅑󠅣󠅘󠅥󠄲󠅠󠄷󠄶󠅤󠅕󠄳󠄺󠅟󠅔󠄸󠅂󠅧󠅓󠅪󠅟󠅦󠄼󠄢󠄡󠅠󠅒󠅞󠅁󠅥󠅒󠅇󠅜󠅥󠅑󠅇󠄺󠅠󠅔󠄸󠄽󠅥󠅉󠄢󠄶󠅪󠅑󠄳󠄩󠄳󠅑󠅈󠅂󠅚󠅒󠄢󠅜󠅥󠅉󠅈󠅆󠅚󠅓󠄢󠄶󠄠󠅉󠅈󠅃󠄲󠅟󠅝󠄶󠅠󠅃󠄱󠄲󠅁󠄲󠅆󠄴󠅧󠅃󠅅󠄶󠄷󠅉󠅈󠄳󠄹󠅟󠄢󠄶󠅘󠄷󠅁󠄵󠄱󠅉󠅈󠄾󠄤󠅁󠄴󠅆󠅘󠅊󠅄󠅔󠅝󠄽󠅝󠄵󠅪󠄽󠅇󠄽󠅪󠄿󠅄󠅊󠅘󠄽󠅝󠅂󠅜󠅊󠅝󠄽󠄡󠅉󠅇󠄵󠄤󠅉󠅪󠅅󠅩󠄿󠄴󠄽󠄡󠅊󠄷󠄶󠅝󠅊󠅝󠄵󠅪󠅉󠅄󠄹󠅪󠄽󠅚󠅔󠅜󠄽󠅄󠅓󠅪󠄾󠅇󠅅󠅧󠅉󠅚󠅛󠅩󠄾󠄴󠄺󠅘󠄾󠅚󠅆󠅝󠄽󠅄󠄽󠅧󠄽󠄴󠅅󠄠󠄾󠄷󠄶󠅘󠅉󠄡󠅗󠅘󠄱󠄢󠄳󠅑󠅀󠅉󠅓󠅆󠄸󠅩󠅖󠅘󠄷󠄴󠅩󠅞󠄷󠅘󠅘󠄷󠅚󠅟󠅩󠅪󠅚󠅤󠄝󠅡󠅊󠄵󠅥󠄩󠄾󠄲󠄴󠅞󠅒󠄥󠅄󠅉󠅉󠄤󠅨󠄾󠅟󠄢󠄶󠅘󠄷󠄳󠄲󠅘󠅓󠄣󠅘󠄱󠅉󠅇󠅅󠄠󠄾󠅪󠅁󠄠󠅉󠅝󠅊󠅚󠄽󠄷󠅊󠅜󠅉󠅪󠅗󠄢󠄾󠅝󠄶󠅝󠄾󠅝󠅉󠄠󠅊󠅇󠅅󠄣󠅉󠅄󠅊󠅜󠄽󠄴󠅁󠅨󠄾󠅄󠄵󠄡󠅊󠄷󠅅󠄡󠄾󠅚󠄲󠅘󠅉󠅇󠅆󠅜󠅊󠅝󠅊󠅛󠅊󠅄󠄲󠅘󠅊󠅚󠄵󠄥󠄿󠄴󠅉󠅧󠅉󠅇󠅆󠅛󠄽󠄢󠄽󠅪󠄿󠅇󠄹󠄥󠄿󠅇󠄶󠅚󠅇󠄳󠄵󠄴󠄴󠄩󠄧󠅟󠄤󠅪󠅆󠄹󠄝󠅡󠅢󠄲󠄴󠄿󠄿󠄢󠅃󠅁󠄽󠅛󠅩󠅚󠄩󠅠󠄷󠅀󠄼󠅙󠅑󠅒󠅃󠅑󠄾󠅆󠄡󠅈󠅤󠅜󠅗󠅓󠅒󠄣󠄿󠅚󠅉󠅇󠄵󠅉󠄹󠄷󠄶󠅪󠅕󠄵󠄱󠄠󠄿󠄴󠄵󠄥󠅉󠅄󠅉󠅨󠅉󠅝󠄽󠅧󠄿󠄷󠄵󠅧󠅉󠅝󠄹󠅪󠄽󠅚󠅆󠅜󠄾󠄴󠅗󠅪󠅉󠅪󠅗󠄠󠄾󠅄󠄱󠅩󠅉󠅄󠅘󠅜󠅊󠅚󠄹󠅩󠄾󠄴󠅓󠄢󠄾󠅚󠄱󠄤󠄾󠅪󠄽󠄤󠄾󠅇󠄵󠄢󠅊󠅚󠄾󠅚󠅊󠅝󠄵󠅨󠄽󠅄󠅂󠅛󠅉󠅄󠅅󠄡󠅊󠅚󠄵󠄣󠄾󠅄󠅅󠅧󠅉󠅇󠄾󠅉󠄹󠅁󠄽󠄢󠄼󠅤󠄩󠅢󠄝󠅇󠄣󠅃󠅠󠅕󠄲󠄲󠅨󠅊󠅞󠄣󠅢󠄠󠄶󠅨󠄹󠅛󠄵󠅏󠅧󠄤󠄲󠅈󠅜󠄻󠄺󠅧󠄽󠅂󠅅󠄼󠅩󠅅󠄤󠄷󠅄󠄻󠄾󠅘󠅉󠅂󠅗󠅗󠅉󠅈󠄾󠄤󠅁󠄷󠄹󠅩󠄾󠅄󠄲󠅘󠅊󠅝󠄵󠅨󠅉󠄢󠅂󠅝󠅉󠅚󠄽󠄡󠅊󠅚󠅛󠄢󠄿󠅄󠅛󠅨󠄽󠅄󠅔󠅛󠅊󠄷󠅅󠅨󠄾󠄴󠄱󠅧󠅊󠅄󠄾󠅛󠄽󠅝󠅁󠅩󠅊󠄴󠄱󠅩󠄽󠅪󠅅󠅩󠄿󠄴󠅓󠄥󠄽󠄴󠅜󠅛󠄾󠅄󠅜󠅜󠅉󠅄󠅛󠄤󠅉󠅚󠄽󠄥󠄾󠅪󠅗󠅩󠅉󠄢󠅊󠅘󠄽󠅇󠅊󠅘󠅉󠄡󠅗󠅘󠄱󠄡󠄦󠅑󠅂󠅚󠄡󠅅󠅏󠄥󠅘󠅩󠄢󠄼󠄿󠄢󠄾󠅣󠅓󠄲󠄢󠅒󠅣󠅠󠅗󠄥󠅤󠅨󠄼󠅒󠅤󠅪󠅏󠅨󠅡󠅡󠄼󠅑󠄢󠅄󠄺󠄵󠅀󠅩󠅟󠄢󠄶󠅘󠄵󠄷󠄶󠅪󠅕󠄵󠄲󠅚󠄽󠅪󠅗󠅩󠄾󠄴󠄽󠄡󠅊󠅄󠅜󠅜󠄽󠄴󠅓󠄥󠅊󠄴󠅅󠅧󠄾󠄴󠄶󠅜󠄽󠄢󠄵󠄣󠄾󠅇󠅊󠅝󠄾󠅚󠅜󠅘󠄾󠅪󠅆󠅚󠄾󠅪󠄺󠅘󠄾󠄷󠄺󠅚󠅉󠅚󠅉󠅩󠄽󠅚󠅉󠄢󠅊󠄴󠅔󠅙󠅉󠅪󠅓󠄠󠄿󠄷󠅅󠅩󠄾󠅇󠄶󠅘󠅉󠅚󠅂󠅝󠄿󠄴󠅔󠅙󠅉󠅚󠄵󠅩󠅉󠅇󠄾󠅉󠄹󠅁󠄺󠅈󠅉󠄸󠅅󠄶󠅁󠅆󠄴󠄦󠅞󠅉󠅟󠅞󠄹󠅜󠅢󠅦󠄸󠅙󠄿󠅇󠄡󠄡󠄦󠅁󠄢󠅄󠄻󠄣󠄩󠄦󠄽󠅂󠅟󠅅󠅞󠅒󠄱󠄲󠄿󠄥󠅠󠅡󠄾󠅘󠅉󠅂󠄲󠅘󠅓󠄣󠅘󠄱󠅉󠅚󠅔󠅝󠅊󠅄󠄶󠅛󠄽󠅄󠅉󠄣󠅊󠅚󠄽󠅩󠄾󠄷󠄽󠅧󠄽󠄴󠅅󠅧󠅊󠅚󠄾󠅛󠄽󠄷󠅁󠄡󠅉󠅝󠅆󠅝󠄽󠅪󠅛󠅩󠄾󠅝󠅁󠅪󠄽󠅄󠅘󠅝󠄽󠄴󠅛󠄥󠄾󠄷󠄾󠅚󠄿󠄷󠅁󠄥󠄾󠅇󠅁󠅪󠄾󠄢󠄹󠄠󠄽󠅚󠅓󠄣󠄾󠄴󠅛󠄠󠄾󠅄󠄽󠄥󠄽󠅝󠅉󠄥󠅉󠅝󠄶󠅚󠅇󠄳󠄵󠄳󠅦󠄢󠅨󠅅󠄻󠅆󠅙󠄿󠅛󠄝󠄶󠄸󠅪󠅏󠅟󠅨󠅡󠅘󠅞󠄦󠄥󠄻󠄼󠅣󠅏󠅁󠅇󠅆󠄸󠅡󠅓󠅪󠅙󠅨󠅊󠅇󠅨󠄷󠄷󠅥󠅅󠄺󠅇󠅚󠅉󠅇󠄵󠅁󠅉󠅈󠄾󠄤󠅁󠄴󠅛󠄢󠅊󠅇󠅂󠅘󠅊󠅇󠅁󠅪󠄿󠄴󠄲󠅚󠄿󠄷󠅆󠅘󠄽󠅄󠅉󠄣󠄽󠅄󠄱󠄤󠅉󠅝󠅂󠅙󠄽󠅚󠅂󠅝󠄽󠅇󠅁󠄡󠅉󠄢󠅉󠅪󠄿󠄷󠅁󠄣󠅉󠅇󠅁󠄤󠅉󠅄󠄶󠅙󠄾󠄴󠄱󠄠󠄽󠅄󠄵󠄤󠅊󠅄󠄽󠄠󠄾󠅇󠅉󠄡󠅊󠅇󠅊󠅙󠄽󠄷󠄶󠅛󠄾󠅪󠄾󠅘󠅉󠅇󠅂󠅘󠅉󠄡󠅗󠅘󠄱󠄣󠄱󠅪󠄩󠅇󠄽󠅩󠅀󠅠󠄝󠅦󠅝󠄧󠅀󠄹󠅗󠅢󠄢󠄦󠅝󠅡󠅞󠅒󠄵󠅥󠄾󠅧󠅥󠄶󠅒󠄤󠅪󠅨󠄡󠅅󠅢󠄩󠄥󠅙󠄼󠄨󠄱󠅊󠅟󠄢󠄶󠅘󠄲󠄷󠄶󠅪󠅕󠄵󠄱󠅩󠅉󠅪󠄵󠅨󠄾󠄢󠅂󠅛󠄽󠅝󠄽󠄡󠄾󠅚󠅅󠅧󠄾󠅚󠄽󠅪󠄾󠄢󠄵󠄠󠄾󠅇󠅂󠅙󠅊󠅇󠅆󠅙󠄽󠅄󠄹󠅧󠄿󠅄󠄵󠄣󠅊󠅇󠄽󠄣󠅊󠅄󠅔󠅙󠅊󠅄󠄺󠅙󠄾󠅚󠅅󠄡󠄾󠅄󠅊󠅙󠄾󠄴󠄹󠄣󠅉󠅪󠄾󠅚󠅊󠄷󠄾󠅙󠄽󠄷󠅉󠄠󠄽󠄴󠄺󠅚󠄿󠄷󠅊󠅛󠅉󠅇󠄾󠅉󠄹󠅁󠄽󠄳󠅔󠄼󠄺󠅁󠅩󠅜󠅥󠅏󠅠󠅜󠅩󠅘󠅙󠅙󠅧󠅗󠄨󠅒󠄿󠅞󠅨󠅚󠅁󠅤󠄨󠄳󠅡󠅚󠅛󠄩󠅘󠅂󠅀󠄧󠅛󠅪󠅇󠅗󠅝󠅛󠄣󠄢󠄶󠅛󠅓󠅈󠅂󠅟󠅊󠅃󠄲󠅚󠅉󠅇󠅤󠅜󠄹󠄷󠅜󠅪󠄹󠄷󠄵󠅗󠅒󠄷󠅜󠅜

Anyone know if I can use an ecash Zeus wallet on my iPhone to zap in Primal?
It seems to work with #amethyst and #minibits. @Cat-Go-Purrrrrrr did you get my zap⚡? Because of missing push notifications #fcm on #gos @Minibits warns to subscribe to nostr relays as a fallback to receive #nwc commands. After that minibits runs actively in the background. The notification center shows "Minibits: Listening for NWC commands..."
if you want to receive to <your_npub>@npub.cash – you need to prove that its you
You can prove that it's you with a signing extension - like nos2x or alby - on desktop. Then, transfer the cashu from desktop to cashu.me (or other cashu wallet) on mobile via QR. If that sounds a little too janky, don't use npub.cash, just use the minibits app with a minibits address instead.
You can use npub.cash in cashu.me - no need to teansfer, your zaps automatically arrive in your wallet. cashu.me > settings > nostr, then "enable lightning address", done.
True. However, if you want to use the npub.cash address that starts with your Nostr npub (of course you would), you'd have to share your Nostr nsec - which cashu.me acknowledges is "dangerous and not recommended".
Yeah... the signing extension via cashu.me works great on desktop. I don't believe it's available for mobile, though (at least not iOS anyway). It think "dangerous and not recommended" could be an exaggeration - but I think that depends on how secure you wish to keep your nsec. Personally, at this time, I consider my nsec/npub disposable, but I still try to practice good nsec hygiene by sharing it no more than is absolutely necessary.

Yeah i did that and my zaps got stolen lmao
It hadn't occurred to me to pair a custom address with a throwaway nsec. That's a great idea! I'll definitely keep that in mind.
How can I do that? I have my npub.cash address set up. I have ecash wallet in 0xchat. What next. Is it set up somewhere in the background?
Are you referring to having your own lightning node opening channels and balancing liquidity? Would cashu be easier to use? I’ve recently run my own node and created a lightning node but I’ve not opened any channels yet as I’m still a bit unsure how to fully use it. Do you need your own lighting node to use cashu?
1. You can set npub.cash as your Lightning address with one tap in 0xchat. 2. If your npub.cash has any sats, you’ll automatically be prompted to claim them to your 0xchat wallet.
got your zap, many thanks observer. flowed straight to my minibits and got a notification. No NWC active, I think this works only if your address ends with @minibits.cash
