Start marketing Nostr to kids
Canada will follow soon.
They can ban deez nuts.
I don't think I have ever come across someone who I suspect is u16 on nostr. What about you?
oh. I only use Nostr and x
If the conversations are respectful and no explicit images are shared, the governments wonβt ban the app. It doesnβt take a genius to understand how to moderate content the right way. Congrats Nostr π!!
Hi guys, if you can, help is always welcomed ππ»

Canada, as well. And that's one reason why I trashed my 18 year old acct (still accessible but blank) over a year ago. I have no social media posting BUT for NOSTR and thus only y'all are subject to my inane ramblings.
It's less of a question of marketing Nostr to kids than it is to all the adults who don't want to doxx themselves to use the internet.
Typical failing authoritarian regime, flailing around trying to shut down speech rather than fix any of the actual problems the people are complaining about.
Same in Romania ππ
i know of a couple, but it's because their parents are here.
agreed
This is why we are building
@Kubo.watch Parent needs the proper tools to raise their children how they see fit, without government intervention.

Do we have some ~safer nostr solution for teenagers?
Bitcoin is a beacon.
Nostr has very few active users, barely 1k users. We need more people here. Thatβs nothing compared to any social media.
Some of the big accounts need to really accept that eventually we need people that donβt necessarily agree with your world views and stop attacking them.
Or nostr will always be very niche.
seems at first like an extreme measure. like government overreach and all that of courseβ¦
at the same time, put in different wordsβ¦
it would be a VERY good thing for EVERY parent to NOT allow their kids from using massive social media platforms, including youtube.
social media is not even healthy for βadults.β SO many people simply are not at all savvy enough to protect their own psyches from the onslaught of bad-for-you & bad-for-society manipulation.
if the uk had trustworthy leaders that actually care about their fellow countrymen as fellow human beings, brothers & sisters, you could also say that this is an understandable desperate measure, especially in the face of ai.
itβs too bad that most parents, the adults, are not at all equipped to parent well.
itβs an extremely terrible βsituationβ these daysβ¦.
noticed bluesky is not listed... the mos eisly of social media

They've already pulled this bullshit in Australia, the day the ban kicked in, thousands of teenagers were roasting the PM and e-karen saying "still here mate". At the end of the day it's parents' job to police what their kids access online, not the state.
e-karen π€
Agree parents job not the state.
By doing this, they are showing that they fear the people who are waking up to the dystopic future that the Globalists have planned for us.
Perfect. If the kids start on nostr they are unlikely to move to where the old people are after 16.
Control them. Go ahead, but not at the cost of everyone else. It's the same situation as with KYC: "Attack everyone because someone something".
I think it's time to end actions like this - which sacrifice everyone to achive a small goal. I'm not a sacrificial goat which can be slaughtered in the name of controlling kids and neither are you.
Imagine some parents granting their kids early access to social media, to "make them better". What if such kids will be much better at being "influencers" later? This whole topic is full of such social experiments.
But I don't give a fuck about those.
I care about privacy and a free internet, if governments are attacking it, then I will point a finger at them, no matter what excuse they will come up with.
just hypothetically, if these leaders in the uk are actually really good people, desiring to actually build a beautiful societyβ¦
kids shouldnβt subject their brains to social media, especially in this crazy era w ai and all the dumb/evil ppl.
times are getting extremely more difficult. a quandary for sure.
If they truly are, they would turn to society to solve this problem.
Instead they started a quiet war, locking bootloaders and sideloading, to stop us from circumventing it. This is NOT a peaceful solution. This is a fucked in the head solution.
They knew very well, people won't agree to that easily, so they practically chose violence.
youβre too emotionalβ¦itβs not possible to have a nuanced discussion with you β¨πβ¨οΏΌβ¨
A slippery overton window running without any control in my backyard? No thanks.
Youβre allowed to your choice like all of us. Thatβs supposed to be freedom.
Bruh idk how they're gonna enforce that, that's wild. You can literally use youtube in the brave mobile browser and get no-ads and everything.
You must be a control freakπ€
Same list as Australia.
Its intentionally meant to fail.
I feel like I'm on the younger side of nostr and I'm 31.
Exactly
bro twitch? damn. i mean they're REALLY cutting them off from almost all news and the cultural zeitgeist.
zap.stream still available :)
True! Also, there's that one vpn thing where random people can sell vpn usage for sats.
