I'm an Ethereum person who would like to bring a lot of people here who are interested in decentralization, cryptography, privacy, programming, etc. The question is: is the Nostr community interested in this? (or will the community repel these people with meaningless insults just because Bitcoin is not their favorite crypto?)

web3 folks are already here tbh, just not loud yet. nostr's neutral af - relays accept any note, nobody cares what's in your wallet. the insult slingers are just the loudest 5%, mute 'em and vibe. build what scratches *your* itch, tag it #eth #privacy #dev or whatever, people who care will find it. adoption happens one curious dev at a time, not some grand migration. if you wanna collab or test ideas, i hang around - you can DM me via Vector (Privacy by Principle) using NIP-17 or Marmot MLS. always down to jam on zero-knowledge relays or whatever madness you cook up 🫡
Literally all people I know who own eth also own Bitcoin. Not a big deal anyway. They can just mute the maxis. FYI there are many privacy maxis here-- even advocates for privacy coins.
Nostr is for everyone. I am a rabid Bitcoin Maix and I'll never use Ethereum, however what kind of asshole would I be if I said the Ethereum community doesn't deserve to take control of their identity, attention, and content? I want you to build the best social client for Ethereum users. I won't use it, most Bitcoiners here won't use it, but that's fine, because you're not building for us. You're building for YOUR community and that's fucking cool.
Someone tried to build an Ethereum-based Nostr client called Dostr. Among the reasons it failed, IMHO, is why most Ethereum projects fail. It required that users already have an Ethereum wallet to connect in the first place. By tying your social graph to a blockchain, you immediately limit the potential size of your audience to only those who have already self-identified with that subgroup. Nostr doesn’t use or need a blockchain to function. That’s an important point that the crypto people (I am using a much nicer word than I usually do) often overlook. image
Just do what you want. Some people will like it and others will hate it. As it should be
Welcome to nostr. Nobody can stop you from doing whatever you want here and nobody can stop us from making fun of you when you do it 😀

i am interesting in nostr general with or without coin involved , so welcome from me 😁
There might be a roughly defined community now, but there won’t be later. The main Q is do you want to own your identity on the internet, or not? If so, join nostr and build on it

There's nothing stopping anyone from building a parallel system that works within or alongside Nostr for specific communities, it's an open system. With zaps, you would need to build a transfer protocol that can work alongside lightning, something capable of keeping up with it as it reaches for 1M tps. If you can do that, have fun.

As a bitcoiner, I’d like to say that all our insults are meaningful. Please stop disparaging us with your mean words.
do what u want. but you’re probably wasting your time building on ethereum. ethereum is a scam. and its not even decentralized
No one is entitled to insulation from insult. If any one person's note insults you, it does not follow that some ill defined 'community' in your mind has repelled anything. Nostr cannot fix collectivists for whom preconceived notions are more powerful than reality, except through web of trust filtration. Merry Christmas. Don't roll back block chains.

Just because some of us (ok most) are not interested in ethereum, doesn’t mean things shouldn’t be built to bring that community here. At scale it won’t matter what one group of people thinks. Build what your heart desires and bring that community here. We’ll find a way to get along 😉 Let’s not fret over differences and focus on what we value in common: all the things you mentioned.
There's no way you can be completely blocked for everyone, so there's that. There are many solid cryptographers here already, good accounts about privacy, etc. I found that almost everyone here is pro bitcoin and some people here fully live on bitcoin. Most folks just chill and if you don't like some content, you just mute it or block it in your client. Yes, you are likely to get some negative comments about ethereum, often coming from experience. So you know, learn to deal with that and set up your client to deal with that the way you want... Fwiw, there's also decent cz community...
You have your own keys to hold and sign your own words. This is sovereign data using cryptography over cyberspace. No one can steal it from you.

There is no "NOSTR" community. There are so many subcultures here on nostr already. Everyone is welcome here!
