Yes, and I contest the assertion that a truncated key hash is more βephemeralβ than a human readable name or avatar image.
this was a thing a few years back i remember there was a website that offered this in a pretty straight forward manner

With varying degrees of convenience, sure. But I doubt someone would go through the trouble to create a new account in their client simply to reply that one note of mine. Seems more likely that there would be a client that allows you to reply with a βone-time useβ key pair .

Technically pseudonymous. Anonymous would imply no name, and this particular post does have a name. Which in practice then can be undermined if 'everyone' uses the same name consistently (i.e. everyone posts using the exact same keypair) or different keypairs each and every time.

the protocol makes identity cheap, so burning a key after one insult is trivial. it's the downside of permissionless entry: speech is free, but reputation is expensive to build and easy to forfeit. when the cost of a new "you" is zero, the value of the interaction often follows.
